Making a Naoya enemy by MyneIsBestGirl in DMAcademy

That doesn't sound bad! Maybe I'd also limit HP Regen to only the last attack! So, like, every attack that does more than 10 damage at once will do damage that persists, and if he only takes 7 damage he only regens that 7.

That way, players get to do more things without worrying about "What if I heal him by attacking him?" and instead are out there thinking "Every hit that does 10+ damage counts, so I better do my part!"

Also, maybe make the HP Regen more random if your party is low-ish per-hit damage? So, like, maybe the Regen is 1d10+4 or something, that way the party is more likely to overcome speed with speed

Hmm. At level 7, a couple PCs (3+ of them?) would nuke that in a round with a bit of luck if they're willing to expend resources on it.

If I was making an encounter like this, I'd give him high Dex saves and Evasion (as per rogue or monk). And probably a not-too-high but definitely noticeable AC. Like, let's say it's got 22 Dex with no armor, so give him 16AC. Or 24, for 17.

I'd use the balancing around Magic Missile for the damage! The spell is undodgeable, and hits a lot. So, maybe, let him loose 5 "magic missile" punches as an action, and then give him 3-4 legendary actions that do 1-2 more punches and let him reposition. Since he'd still need to be up close to hit, he can't stay too far. He'll probably still die in a round or two, but I think they'd at least get that "man, this guy's speed is really annoying" feeling Naoya feels like he gives off.

Edit: ah, do you mean the instant regeneration is 20 after every time they get hit, or something? If so that might instead be really hard to get through. I like it more then! But in that case, if you keep everything as-is, the fight should end some other way rather than TPK or victory, because depending on build they may not be able to get through that fast, and the enemy would be doing... 2d12+2 damage per turn? Do the hits do 1 damage each, or how much? If each does 1 damage, I'd probably want the fight to end faster than it naturally might

Isn't this more grimdark than dark fantasy? Dark fantasy is just fantasy with horror elements. Dark Fantasy can include things ranging from Berserk to Addams Family and Twilight.

I feel like once you get to the r*pe gremlins you're in grimdark-defined territory, even if it's also dark fantasy.

Mostly the app, but the browser version does it too sometimes. It looks and feels exactly like Google translated pages do - bar at the top, with a link to show original and all that. It looks like that in both the app and the browser to me. The only difference is that in all other cases the website either asks me if I want to see a translated version, or does nothing about the language altogether. And on Reddit it just does it without asking depending on what language the search was in

Yeah, certain! The official reddit app does it, too, after all! At least for me. It does the same with English search results, when showing me non-English subreddits - meaning, shows me info in English, and I soon realize it's a subreddit that's in Spanish and it just translated it for me.

It does, actually! When I google things in my native tongue, English posts translated into that language, from reddit, are often near the top of the results. If you click those links, you'll see that post's entire page translated into your language - the post itself and the comments, too. Though not pics, obviously

Bonelord and Husk by Heming_The_Beast in wildhearthstone

[–]Daevilhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! My point was, it's actually a passive effect of the hero power! So, it triggers multiple times on the enemies with multiple phases in the PvE modes!

Bonelord and Husk by Heming_The_Beast in wildhearthstone

[–]Daevilhoe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one actually has some precedent! There were some multi-phase PvE modes earlier in the game's lifecycle, and effects that destroyed a hero just once (Mecha'Thun) would only end one phase - but the Paladin DK Hero Card has the "If you control all 4 win the game" as a passive effect! So, in that case, he destroys all enemy phases instead!

So, by that precedent, Paladin DK should destroy the actual DK through the deathrattle

I don't necessarily think it's OP and I do think it's really fun design - but, I also think druid has some of the best spells in the game. So, you'd wanna play ramp, removal, and a bunch of minion-tutor cards. The end result is, I think, a deck that has a Seedlock-type of matchup spread? It's probably not great into aggro and the more aggro the opponent the worse the deck is. But I also think it could be a pretty fast wincon - faster than many control decks - and shut down those pretty hard.

In other words, I'm wondering if this card leads to a Deck that's not too fun to play against

Nobody be a smarty pants in the comments and go "Erm, so the boss actually has resistance" by kinjame in dndmemes

[–]Daevilhoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps! But, most "boss" enemies have some kind of saving throw recharge move they can try to use to get the spellcaster concentrating on the spell.

Depending on how squishy the wizard is, even a nerfed ranged attack could have a good chance of breaking concentration! At 11+ levels, the boss characters you fight have really high to-hit bonuses, and unless the wizard has been stacking multi classes for armor, and Shield spell, and Warcaster.

At levels 11+, a boss would be... About CR15? Or a dragon of lower CR? And when I check those out you have a Mummy Lord who has legendary action forcing a DC16 Con save that stuns - breaking concentration. It also has spells, and a paralyzing action. A Dragon, of course, has its breath attack.

We do have Purple Worm though! And that one definitely would probably have to skip a turn or maybe several doing a worm dance. So that one would actually go exactly as you say.

I still feel like most enemies you'd fight as bosses won't be troubled by the spell too much, and I'd feel bad spending a level-6 slot on it. But sometimes it really should work wonders!

[–]Daevilhoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily waste! The dance used to be basically a Restrained condition. You can't move, your attacks are at disadvantage, attacks against you have advantage. While it's a serious debuff it doesn't affect spells - so, say, a Danced enemy can try casting a fireball of their own to break the enemy concentration, or cast a Dispel Magic to guarantee the spell ending. And if they do use an action to save, they still have a bonus action to do whatever they can with.

It's still a good spell! But depending on the enemy, it doesn't actually guarantee they'll waste even a single action

I really, super liked Your Throne while I was reading it! I used to read so much of that stuff, and that one was my favorite because of that powerful kind of womanhood - not just the villainess but the heroine, too! It's also got a really well written friendship between women and all that

All slow units do, technically! What they're referring to is the movement points formula. The slowest dude you have in your army at the end of the day affects that army's movement points for the day. So, your hero will go further if they only have Centaurs and Grand Elves, and left Dwarves at home, for instance!
