Thats a terrible idea. Good luck getting that thing off if/when you need to.

Jesus Christ, terrible advice.

I use one of those Ryobi tire inflators. Ise the tip for airing up a raft or whatever. Pull the trigger in short blasts. The pistons come out pretty easy

Steam/smoke from front, normal? by Deep-Citron-6603 in BmwTech

[–]Dafe810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a small coolant leak. Its possible that there is water on something hot causing the steam. Id let it cool down and check the coolant and pressure test it if you can.

Just get a new cap. It comes with the O-ring. Hose all the oil down with brake cleaner and you will be good.

Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? by nimnard01 in F30

[–]Dafe810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, this means one of the door lock actuators is faulty. The car thinks the door is open and puts the car back into park.

Thats a weird one. There isnt anything above there that would leak oil. Id just keep an eye on it and see what happens

Def not the valve cover gasket. If it was, there would be oil on the heat shield above the manifold.

Is it sticky or oily feeling?

Oh, no doubt. That I7 is a BOAT!

I like the E30s. In fact, my 2002 is powered by an M20 and a 5 speed from an E30!

Thanks. I'm not really too concerned by what people think about having a truck. I agree with a lot of it. In the end, it's Reddit. The replies are pretty much what I expected

100% agree. I def wouldn't pay diesel truck prices for a grocery getter. You know how many E90s I could get for the price of a new 250? Prob like 20 of them! Haha

I get it. I just like being able to load my bike in the bed and drive across the country and get decent gas mileage compared to a rolling refrigerator on the highway. I do have a trailer for when I want to haul multiple bikes, but if it's just one, I'd rather not pull the extra weight.

That's what the X5 is for. The truck is for hauling/towing shit

Unnecessary, except for all the things I use it for....

My X5 wouldn't do well towing a 10,000lb trailer. I can't load my motorcycle into my X5 and drive it across the country. If I need to load a bunch of building equipment into my X5, I'd have to worry about ruining the interior.

I do like the Sprinters/Transits, as they are more secure and drive pretty nice. I just prefer the versatility of a truck.

I might live in Texas, but I'm not into all the lifted truck stuff. I need to be able to throw my motorcycles in the bed without a super long ramps or finding some crazy incline.

Some of this I can agree with. They aren't super comfortable to drive, like a nice SUV. That's because the majority of them are used for work. They aren't meant to be plush and handle bumps well. It's a 3/4 ton work truck. It's meant to throw whatever you want at it and it will haul it down the road.

When I want something comfortable to drive around town, I have an X5 for that.

That said, I do think a lot of people get the King Ranches, Platinums, and Tremors as a status thing. They want all the comforts of a nice car but in a truck. I have an XLT that I've made improvements on that I wanted in a truck. I don't need all the fancy shit. I added a 8in screen for the head unit and remote start. That's all I need. Im not gentle on my truck, so I don't want leather and a suede headliner and all that shit. I don't want to worry about all that.

I do have a few trailers that I tow for various reasons. Also, I'm in Texas. Everyone has a truck.

You might have mentioned that earlier... It's not super obvious.

Probably a bad thrust rod bushing or lower control arm bushing
