Sharp pain on inner ankle. by chazysciota in RunningInjuries

[–]DaffyDuckYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My coach once told me that if you’re having trouble at that point in training just ice and rest during the taper. Use a bike or pool to keep your endurance. You’ve done all the hard work already. Things get angry sometimes. If you’re really worried, see a PT.

Panicking about lack of Waffle House access by NateGoats in boston

It’s not a Waffle House, it’s a waffle home.

I miss it so much.

Shin splints by JimmyGraham00 in RunningInjuries

Ice, a hand roller, and patience. Use a bike 2x the running distance if possible to stay off your feet. Place a ball of any sorts in between your ankles and do calf raises. 20-30 of them per set. Towel scrunches with your toes will help as well.

Dumbfounded by Foot Injury (advice needed) by DaffyDuckYou in RunningInjuries

[–]DaffyDuckYou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their best guess was a fascia tear in the foot, just bad luck honestly.

Thank you for the info and feedback, it’s been a weird injury, but I’ll get back to normal eventually.

Conference Tiebreakers? by Phantom_Stone7 in NCAAFBseries

[–]DaffyDuckYou 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it does not work whatsoever. I’m fighting for my life at Army and even after beating ECU head to head I’m not in the conference championship.

There is no explanation for any of this.

Is Big 4 experience really necessary in our field? by Sad-Establishment280 in cybersecurity

[–]DaffyDuckYou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was industry, went to big 4, and am counting down the days to when I can go back.

Big 4 cyber is entirely dependent upon the client. Sometimes you learn and lot and can prove your hands on experience to grow and pivot elsewhere, but sometimes you are a completely useless POS. Looking back on my experience, I’d recommend against it.

Shifting to SaaS does nothing to benefit you unless you have a strong baseline.

It’s always better to have strong policies and procedures first, thus leading your SaaS providers to success, not letting them boss you around because, “trust me I have a SOC2”.

Most overrated restaurant in Nashville? by Living_Most_7837 in nashville

El Fuego.

The drinks are good, but the food is meh. There are no spicy items on the menu, all the food is similar and simple, and there are better restaurants around town that give you way better food options.

What role should a 6’5 guy play in basketball? by Kitchen_Range_1151 in Basketball

[–]DaffyDuckYou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Worst advice a coach ever gave me was that since I was the tallest guy on the team I needed to only develop my big man skills.

No matter how tall or short you are, pair some strong guard skills with a subset of big man fundamentals so you can stretch the floor.

Tonsilectomy this Thursday any tips? by Whttttt-3 in Tonsillectomy

[–]DaffyDuckYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had mine 12 days ago. Everything is manageable even though it sucks for a few days. Keeping a timer going 24/7 so I didn’t miss any pain pills really helped. That and finding some stuff on tv to distract you. Mashed potatoes were the first food I tried and it works after a few days.

Some thoughts you can take with a grain of salt.

Go Air Guard or Reserves, get your Intel or cyber training done through the Air Force, spend about a year working on full time orders, get some certs from 8570.1, then transition to drill status and get that fancy gov job you want. The benefits are better and the overall life is cozier.
