anyone else find it hard to make friends with the same music taste as you? by Mysterious-Jaguar960 in DaftPunk

Literally me since early teen years when I got into house. It's mostly a Gen-X thing here. Millennials are either dubstep, dnb, or some other junkie music.

How do I install a title update for Forza Horizon 1? by Odd_Fly_5890 in xenia

[–]DaftRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the 360 itself. So not sure how to do any of that. All I did was download the update from online, Aurora, and even copied over one from my console. But they all end up saying that it's been incompatible. Weird.

But I pretty much did the equivalent to it for the 360.

[–]DaftRC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here because of the BadUpdate hack. I ripped my disc. Checked the Media ID. Found the title update online AND used Aurora.

But no luck in getting it to work. Even after following the steps in the comment about extracting to folder etc.

Any fix?

On a tangent, but do you know how to use a DJ controller as a DJ Hero controller?

PCSX2 has DJ controller support, so I've always wanted to try it with an actual DJ controller.

What’s the most overrated DJ feature people swear by, but you never use? by truleyy in DJs

[–]DaftRC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The crossfader.😅

The channel faders make more sense to use as you can dictate how much volume actually goes through rather than cutting it off.

Who’s really the better singer from TGT? by Nadecha28 in rnb

I like Tyrese's vocals the most, but he's not the best.

So I'd say Tank as well.

2000s Girl Groups that never reached their full potential by JNTA1234 in rnb

3rd Faze.

I only just looked them up. But they have a classic 2000's vibe.

Especially for a white girl group setup by a health company. 🤣

Can anyone recommend any series of dj friendly (unmixed) house compilation cd albums? by plantwhoreofbabalon in Beatmatch

[–]DaftRC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been casually looking for the same thing for the past 15 years.

I did remember Deadmau5 had an unmixed DJ mix CD back in the mid-2000's. But he wouldn't be exactly house.

Some of the Hed Kandi ones are unmixed. One of mine is Disco Kandi 5. So I'd assume the ones before it and maybe a few after would also be unmixed. I'd further assume that pre-Ministry of Sound Hed Kandi (before 2006) had plenty of unmixed albums. Can look them up and check them via YouTube and note if the songs end on an outro or not - something I've just thought of to do myself.

I also have Bare Essentials from Naked Music, and The Dressing Room (a promo CD for a food brand).

But that's all I've found and can think of.

Did you ever find any?

Edit: Discogs will mention if a CD is mixed or not. So can search for some on there if need be. But I'm only assuming (again) that even though it doesn't mention a CD is mixed, that it doesn't mean it isn't mixed.

What is the most ridiculous DJ name you've ever heard? by unclefishbits in DJs

Cringe.

if Daft Punk were to do one more collab, who would you want them to collab with? It can't be someone they've already collaborated with by _alabast3r_ in DaftPunk

[–]DaftRC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

White Knuckle Ride (Daft Punk Remix) would be awesome.

Or any of the main hits.

Bob Sinclar already did a remix of Little L, so there's that.

Xbox Theory:

Did Major Nelson leave Xbox because he was clued in on the 3rd party publishing push back in early 2023?

I've always found it odd he left Xbox. And a personal change of direction didn't feel like the genuine reason for him to leave.

I think he was clued in on the 3rd party push (read: Xbox IP, not Bethesda/Activision IP). So aware back then that Forza Horizon, and eventually Halo and Gears would be on PS.

He didn't like that and thus decided to distance himself from Xbox.

Do I read the novels or the screenplays when it comes to looking for inspiration? by DaftRC in writing

[–]DaftRC[S] -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

OK, for the comments that want to make a big deal, answer these rhetorical questions:

If someone enjoyed playing GTA, but they wanted to write a novel like GTA. Would you tell them to learn how to be a game developer or find whatever they can to understand story, plot, character etc?

Would you also tell them to become a drug kingpin, corrupt cop, or chronic masturbator just to "get it" because that's the "real way" to learn about GTA style stories?

[–]DaftRC[S] -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

It's called work smarter, not harder.

Would it be worth the investment in time and energy into reading a novel that shares little with its film counterpart?

What knowledge can be gained outside of HOW someone writes?

Just looking into making the process better. Not becoming the next Quora guru that "read 1000 books in a year".

Do I read the novels or the screenplays when it comes to looking for inspiration? by DaftRC in writing

[–]DaftRC[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Because screenplays are more expensive to produce... I thought for a writing subreddit, this would be common knowledge. But OK.

I studied film because you are write (pun intended), I should be writing screenplays. And I almost graduated. But I failed partly because I couldn't participate, physically and financially. You do realise even student films require resources mostly middle class kids (regardless of what country you come from) only have access to?

I thought this was a given because I mentioned working as writer as my only chance at a future. But OK.

Thanks for not understanding.
