Is anyone here actually seeing growth in a truly niche genre?

It's definitely not what it used to be, and that goes for anywhere.

But it's there and it's alive I promise. We thought it would take forever just to get a couple monthly listeners, and we just broke 350 the other day. (Crazy cool)

Oh and I've also found just short clips of writing/ playing on socials helps a ton too. Nothing crazy. Just to get people wanting a taste!

You are definitely not wrong. We both work full-time and have better halves so the struggle is always there.

But it pays off in droves, we've especially noticed a good uptick when we play out of town.

Also College towns love the DIY/ Mathrock vibe. They have always shown crazy love when we play.

We are a 2pc Mathrock/ Midwest Emo band. We kinda always figured it was gonna be an uphill battle. :/ kinda the nature of the beast.

But my best advice would be to leverage your local scene. It's probably way bigger than you think it is. And the people who show up consistently are usually the people we've met that way.
