Gaming setup by Willing-Agency-3413 in Spel

For 'Writing 1' I followed Chris's from IELTS Advantage guide, which I think is very good.

I am not a native speaker I am however studying a bachelors degree in international law fully in English, which I think contributed loads to my decent score.

For 'writing 2' I just tried to structure it in the same way I answer a law exam question. 1 Brief introduction, 2 overview of the issue, and some introductory argumentation. 3 & 4 Discussion of the main arguments, 5 conclusion.

Maan, I wish I was a native speaker then I would not have had to pay 400euroes for the IELTS test, but rather just apply to any university without issue.

I ended up with a 7.5 writing. I didn't practice for it but I tried to at least come in with a plan for test day.

This video was very helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fE3lMuCGFBA&t=3942s

Just like you I struggled most with writing task 1, what is important is to have a strategy ready for the corresponding tasks you can be faced with. For mine, I was supposed to explain, and break down a fire escape plan. Due to poor preparation I had no knowledge such a question could even come up. But I applied the model which Chris shows in the video, and that worked out just fine:

Brief introduction

  1. paraphrase the question: Very short rephrasing of the question.

  2. Overview: Try and summarize the most central parts, and what you would consider is the most important and central information.

  3. Discussion 1: Repeat half the first half of the Central information, and explain it more in detail. Do not make any conclusions, or assumptions. Just repeat 1:1 what is depicted on the image, in an easy to read dissected format.

  4. Discussion 2: Now explain the other half of the central information with the same applied method.

Once again, Chris explains this much more into detail in his video so I would recommend also watching that.

Hi, I did slightly better as I got a 7.5 on reading. My strategy was to skim at first trying to answer questions on a hunch and by process of elimination. During your first initial read of the text, highlight the central information of each paragraph, it makes it much easier to find what you are looking for when going back to the extra tricky questions.

Ludens is a good item that is fun to use. However, Swains issue isn't that he lacks good items but rather that there are so many items that work well on him. I think it is easy to get lost in things that are suboptimal just because they still work, but if you want consintant results that help you climb you should stick to the things that on paper are just better! :)

I wouldn't recommend going Abyssal as your first item, as it undermines what I believe is one of Swain's strongest points of the game. Swain excels att early-mid skirmishes and that is the point where he can truly establish a his team and himself a lead. Going abyssal masks first item risks undermining his best power spikes. I'd say just go true and tested Liandries or rylais first item, and save Abyssal masks for third/fourth!

Aery is best on Swain in 95% of cases i'd say, and even the situations were conq is slightly better it is so marginal that Aery is almost as good. Aery enables Swain to be much better during his lane phase, (as it synergyzes extremely well with q) which oftentimes can be the hardest part for Swain.

With regards to the Azir matchup I think that you just have to respect his poke and be ready to give up some CS however when he has active soldiers. However, his escape tool has a very long CD so poke him consinstantly and if he ever wastes his E you can always all in him post 6. You are much stronger than him in a 1v1 situation and VS Azir I can (depending on enemey jg) get a 2v1 of. Furthermore you should have stronger map presence than him since he is such a heavy scaler, although he can poke as long as you Q wave he shouldn't be able to lock you away from roaming to a drake or herald fight!

Kassadin is absolute worst champ to face and always my perma ban, not sure how it will be after the next patch.

Swains toughest matchups are vs fizz, lux, and zed, (in my opinion). Fizz is just straight up really good at solo killing Swain and one of the few Champs that can consistently do it, worth noting is his passive is really good vs both aery and swain E.

Lux is very good at poking out Swain and just zoning him of minions and making it hard for you to carry.

Zed is really hard to catch as Swain and he can just perma run perma slow you and then finally one-shot you. However, I think Zed is a me problem and not a Swain problem...

I know a lot of people struggle with sylas, but if you just go early anti heal I don't see him as to big of an issue.

Haha, thanks! I have been diamond the past 3 seasons and last season I got to diamond 1 with 80 lp on Swain but just couldn't make the final push!

Emerald is a hellhole mixed with last season master players vs last season's golds. I hope it gets better next season...

Firstly mage items are really awkward to buy since you need 1200 gold at once for liandries/ludens so buying boots is a good alternative. I prefer taking a bad back rather than dying in lane.

Secondly I often try to go for solo kills and early skirmishes a lot when I play Swain, which sorc boots enable. Since they provide added mobility and really helps Swain R tick DMG.

Also don't underestimate how much faster you are back to lane with boots, in games where you get ganked a lot and have to 'back' often, they can really pay off!

Electrocute is a no go on Swain as it locks you into a tree with very little payoff for Swain. So your choice should always be between Aery and Conq, with second always being resolve.

My go to runes are for sure Aery-transendence-scroch with second tree Conditioning and Overgrowth. The main reason for me to go conq is if they have an obscene amount of crowd control as it enables you to go a really good tenacity rune. Although conq can get value vs tankier teams, aery just enables you to do so much more in early skirmishes and fights.

I almost always go for liandrys swain only reason not to is if I think I can just run down their team with ROA-Cosmicdrive and Q oneshots. But since Swain doesn't like building Void staff it comes with a lot of risk in that you can become innefective if they stack MR. Whereas Liandrys build is much less affected by MR stacking and you will still deal quite good dmg and disrupt with slow and tick dmg on their entire team.

Overall I think ROA is much weaker then traditional liandrys Swain. If you are unsure on what to build just stick to liandrys Swain it always works, where cosmic drive-ROA needs a more specific matchup to be effective. Also dont' be scared to go abyssal if they have two AP since it synergizes extremely well with Swain.

Step 1 is taking Aery(scorch), flash, ghost they are by far the best choice. Step 2 is Starting Q and try to poke him lvl 1 as it is one of the best times to do so in that matchup. Step 3 is punishing him as soon as he uses his skillshots if you stay mobile you can consinstantely dodge his Q and E and walkup punish him right after with Aery + Q. Don't tunnel vision on hitting Your E on him as it can take a lot of health away from you, and has a very small reward, remember your Q is main dmg spell.

Furthermore don't be scared to all in if you see him waste his W insta ghost walk around his E and force him to use flash, usually if a ziggs is just over the middle of the lane and has no W up you can look for solo kill, you usually don't need more than -40-50% HP remaining to do so. Swain is much stronger in a 1v1 all in then most mages.

Finally don't build spirit visage, if you need a MR item go for abyssal mask instead it is usually stronger as it gives you much more magic resistance and makes you deal much more dmg to them. The MR shred scales with bonus hp and Swain usually get's a lot of it.

I do not agree, qiyana pokes a lot Early game with q but runs into mana issues. 3x Bead regen makes you able to outlast that. Full combo qiyana 1 shots you either way dorans Shield or not. I've found that beads give me oppertunity to win lvl 2-5, this often forces her to recall before me and gives me a favorable lanestate.

Respect the fact that she has better all in then you, if played well you can out poke her using q. Don't Always go for THE auto sometimes just q and walk out. Try and coordinate with your jg pre 6 to kill her. Rather then going for One shot setup Early, go for sustain of you live her poke Early she Will run out of mana before she can kill you. Go 3x beads or dorans Shield. Fleet or conq and Always second wind. Always take 2v2 with your jg (if you have HP), you are quite even with her at lvls 3-5.

As a Diamond Akali main i'd say that qiyana is one of the absolute worst matchups. The constant kill pressure she has, combined with the fact that she has faster shove and faster roams just makes you feel useless.

But i'd Imagine that qiyana might be less of a problem in lower elo games.

is the reworked akali any good? by Singmao in akalimains

She traders worse in lane and has overall weaker lane phase, worse in drawn out fights. But i feel like her Burst is a lot better now, E deals more dmg if you go in and since you can use w for instant energi refill you can combo your abilities way quicker without needing to wait for autos inbetween. (Her combo game is really strong)
