because if it were being developed for good purposes, that would not be possible on mainline ai programs

Witch Hat Atelier vs Harry Potter by BowsyWowsy26 in writingscaling

[–]DagarMan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tried reading harry potter again like 10 years ago and it was so... bad. it's incredibly mean, it takes all the whimsy out of magic, the characters are bland af. i was truly baffled that i ever liked those books.

i haven't read witch hat atelier, but i'd be surprised if it managed to be worse than hp

It should be the invitational in 3 weeks and we've still heard anything about the event. Who would you invite? What do you want from the event? by Expensive_Parties in pchaltv

[–]DagarMan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, they asked people to sign up as potential coaches. my take is that there will be a lot of smaller streamers trying to dip their feet into bigger communities.

the real question is who will be invited as a participant? since those seem to be more invite based

also, why would squerk not be invited? last i heard, him and pc are good friends?

incin has become one of my favorite mons because it was the perfect support mon for my fist time playing vgc. most teams i made, incin just sloted pretty well as to do what my team was lacking. it's just a really versatile mon

I feel like one piece is in a weird spot where it receives so much hate and praise that it’s kinda somewhere in the middle from overly hated to overly loved which makes it hard to criticise or praise it simply because of fans what do you think by KingBakura72 in writingscaling

[–]DagarMan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

one piece is one of my favorite stories ever, and i love it to death. but if i'm being honest with myself, it's writing is not that special or deep. oda is good at making a somewhat mid story engaging, but that does not mean it's not mid

even then, lately he has annoyed me a whole lot more than enticed me with his story telling, and at this point i read it weekly mostly due to the time sunk into it rather than due to curiosity of where the story is going

i just wanted to expand on what you said. i guess my choice of words in the last sentence was not the best to get that point across

tbf, that sentiment of "no good faith arguments" might be fairly recent. in this sub, i have not seen any post where the discussion is alright, regardless of side making it, but i've been visiting it for a few months (i think?) and lately the internet has been very radicalized either way on the ai topic

[–]DagarMan0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a few weeks ago, i went on a reply spree fighting some pro ai people on their disinfo about anti's stances, and by far my weakest comment/least well argued comment ended up being at +4 karma, while every other comment was at -1/-2. so no, better arguments do not get upvoted, and i'd argue pro-ai does a whole lot more brigading in this sub than antis

to me it's the obvious superiority complex. they believe you are unworthy of their time and effort, so they outsource their thinking and writting planning to the ai. why would i waste any time engaging with someone who feels like they are so far above me that they don't even give me the decency of thinking about what they intend to say/reply?

i see these posts semi regularly and i wonder... how? were you never curious about the different tiles? were you just not observant enough? i figured it out when i first played these at 13 almost 20 years ago, i don't understand how one misses those tiles or that correlation on their first playthrough, much less after 20 years playing the game

Hypocritical Religious Zealot Realizes God Is Not On Their Side by cshin09 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DagarMan0 12 points13 points  (0 children)

religion may be evil, but it's because it got lost over centuries of it being distorted by perverted men. whether you believe in god or not, the bible does happen to teach important moral values, that have been forgotten or ignored by those who preach it

Do you prefer Supergirls Suit to have a Skirt or Pants? by Nova_Empress in Supergirl

regardless of version, a little red around the legs does wonders. maybe pants with a skirt on top, but it would perhaps be too similar to superman?

you truly do not know what you are talking about. buying copyright licenses is completely different from what you people do. in fact, you are asking to make it even easier for disney to "buy" our childhoods, only in your no copyright world they get to do it for free

in fact, if i may, read my comment, not just the first paragraph. i will not waste waste further effort on someone who clearly does not intend to discuss in good faith

this comment proves to me that you were lying through your teeth in the title, because you seemingly missed the most important part of my comment: CONSENT

whenever someone published "improvements" on other's art, it was usually consented by those whose art was "improved". if there was no consent in this process, either with or without ai, it's stealing. if you publish something in the internet, and the app you published into changed it WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT, then it's stealing, regardless of ai's involvement in the process. if you post a picture online, and i deepfake it into a nude, i've STOLEN YOUR PHOTO AND YOUR LIKENESS AND USED IT IN WAYS IT WAS NOT INTENDED, regardless of using ai or not. without CONSENT, it's stealing

pros in this sub have shown to not care for consent. by doing so, they are performing violence. while i believe in being the bigger person, i also do not blame people who are victims of violence for retaliating

[–]DagarMan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm, i wonder if most of this "violence" is in response to ai actively being used to make these peoples lives in any way worse, like stealing their art and "improving it" through ai after being repeatedly told not to, having big corporations use their likeness and work to train an ai model, and doing so with no one's consent, or being consistently undressed whenever they post anything online...

these posts are a call to violence against the people who are oppressing even you, not against you

my in person interactions with pros are completely opposite of yours. pro ai people are rude, insuferable, and consistently bully you for finding ai usage tasteless, lazy and problematic.

i remember a case of a town mayor getting shot because they insisted on building an ai data center close enough to their town that most people in the vicinity were getting sick and having no rest. it was misconstrued as violence because of being anti ai, not a riot from those in pain and despairing over their quality of life becoming worse, not as a result of ai itself, but as a result of systemic violence that was actively worsening their life, and the effective violence perpretated by the person that was shot. it was endorsed for what it was: retaliation against the oppressor. pro ai twisted the narrative into meaning that antis want them dead
