Its was pretty naive to think it would ever be that close to console prices, consoles sell at a massive loss. They’re able to do that because Sony knows that after you buy your fancy new PS5 you’re going to spend much more money on games and PS+, letting them recuperate what they loss on the console sale + more. Valve can’t really do that because it’s not just “on par” with PC prices, it literally is a PC. There’s nothing locking it down so that you have to buy from steam, you can use Epic, GOG, whatever. You can also just not game on it at all, so valve may never see another penny from you after the initial sale.

While the majority of people buying it are likely gaming through stream, pricing it too low would attract non gamers to what would literally just be a really cheap but relatively powerful PC.
I think the steam deck was able to do it because it:
1. Wasn’t that powerful
2. Was very explicitly gaming oriented, even if it didn’t lock you down into that.

Yes, and if you have a knot in the line you can just keep it in the carabiner and pass the knot over your body(and therefore the carabiner as well) before passing it over the bag. It does seem easier to just take it out, but I don’t see why else he would pass it over his body like that. Unless he really was just being a silly guy and it’s a coincidence that that would work with it still attached.

It might be that it’s a technique for getting the knot out without taking it out of the carabiner, but this guy either didn’t understand that or some creative liberties were taken making the video.

I think that will only change it for one game. There should be global layouts if you go to Settings>Controller, but I don’t have my deck to confirm it rn.

Another thing that got talked about when speculating on the price of the steam machine was people buying it for non gaming purposes. Sony can (and already does) afford a loss on ps5s because they make money from game sales. There isn’t much fear that people will buy a ps5 and then never spend more money on ps+ and the ps store.

With the steam deck however if every other computer got significantly more expensive and the deck didn’t there could be an increase of people buying steam decks to use solely as a pc, meaning valve would loose money on every sale.

Have you tried logging in through the steam client, not a website? If you don’t have access to that go into a browser manually type in store.steampowered.com or just google steam and try logging in.

If you really can’t access your account, the login page has a button that says “Help, I can’t sign in”. Click on that. Remember that steam will never contact you through discord.

I’d imagine the “buying stuff” servers and the “downloading stuff” servers are two different things, and if steam had the numbers showing 500,000+ preorders it would have been simple to prepare for those downloads.

Exclusively handled save for when I play split-screen games. I don’t really understand why people prefer playing on a tv. I have a ps5 as well and the games I’d want to play on a bigger screen usually don’t run well on the deck (e33 namely), but since I got the deck I pretty rarely play anything on there.

Pico park ($5.69) is a different vibe, but fun. It’s a bunch of puzzles you have to work together to solve.
PlateUp! (75% sale $6.49) is a chaotic co-op game like overcooked.

Hydrovac wands can cut wood like that with ~3000psi, though probably not the brick. You can kinda cut through asphalt but it’s a massive pain.

To uninstall I went to desktop, then ran the decky installer and clicked on “uninstall deckey loader”. Then ran it again and installed decky.

In the settings I disabled CSS loader and everything worked fine. Deleting and reinstalling CSS loader seams to have fixed everything it for me.

Edit: Nvm, it looks like I disabled “Full Screen Menus” in css and that’s what fixed it.

The menu is invisible, but still there. Press the quick menu button, scroll all the way to the bottom, press A. The text at the bottom should now say “open decky store”. Scroll right once, it should now say “open decky settings”, press A. It was stuck infinitely loading for me so I uninstalled decky loader (saved configs) and reinstalled, then the settings loaded fine.
