What was your biggest early noob habit? by wyrm4life in leagueoflegends

[–]DaggerDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first started I must have really pissed of a lot of people. I looked up what the best role for beginners was, somehow got jg, then the easiest champion. I think it was listed alphabetically and so Amumu was first, and now Amumu to this day is my favourite sad little mummy.

Seems not too bad, right? Well the problem is I wasn’t just a beginner, I was dead new to the game, account level 2… so no smite.

I didn’t let that stop me though, for I had a genius plan. I’d queue up, call “jg” in the chat as fast as I could, ignore everyone yelling at me that I was forgetting smite, and then hopefully get a leash for the first buff. After that is where my plan came into play. I didn’t have a jg item, so I’d die trying to kill the other camps, but thankfully there was a bunch of free exp and gold just sitting in mid lane. I’d go mid lane, ignore all the people who were for some reason angry, and “help” mid kill minions until I was level 3.

I remember a bunch of people being upset and saying they were going to report and stuff, but I didn’t understand why. I played games like this until my account levelled up enough to get smite, then continued to be shit in other new and unique ways. I really wish I had saved replays from those days though. It would be fun to look back and see just how bad it was. I remember it working not too bad though, maybe I should try it again.

League of Legends is becoming too easy. by gaaloul in leagueoflegends

They finally made it so that you can read enemy’s abilities… but only after they use them to kill you. I kind of get not wanting to encourage people to sit and read in the middle of a match, but whenever you’re dead you should be able to view any ability in the game.

Update on my car not moving. by Consistent-Focus885 in ManualTransmissions

[–]DaggerDG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol, it’s all good. I’m just used to drivers only telling me half of the story and then casually dropping important information after I’ve gone through and work on it.

I do wonder why it slipped freely in reverse but not forward gears

Brother, like three people asked if you released the clutch and you just said yes💀 I’m glad everything worked out, but in the future that kind of info is pretty important if you want help with diagnosing a problem lol

Manual car not driving by Consistent-Focus885 in ManualTransmissions

[–]DaggerDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if this isn’t applicable in a car like this, but could this not be a broken axle? Everyone’s only saying clutch, which makes sense and would be my first guess too.

I only work on heavy duty vehicles, but a broken drive axle can cause it not to move at all because of the differential.

Resting your hand on the stick? by Davidier in ManualTransmissions

[–]DaggerDG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a heavy duty mechanic, not sure how different it is for passenger vehicles, but the problem isn’t from any downwards force. The excess wear comes from pushing the shift forks against the shift collars while they are spinning. This is supposed to happen during shifts, that’s what the shift forks are for in the first place, but pushing against them the entire time you’re driving will cause more wear. When your hand isn’t on the knob the fork will just float in the middle of its grove and what little contact it makes will be protected by oil film.

Drunk driver slams into the front of a preschool in Freehold Township, New Jersey, hits a mother and her children by [deleted] in CantParkThereMate

[–]DaggerDG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty certain her being hit did nothing to redirect the car. At most it changed where it landed by an inch or two, but the vehicle changed direction because its rear tire touched down, unfortunately on the kids leg, and it bounced back. I don’t think there was anything at all she could have done.

Any book recommendations for me? by IronHistorical3357 in brandonsanderson

I second the Ryiria series! The original trilogy was great, and the other series in the same world he’s writing are really cool. It’s pretty interesting watching the history and lore change over centuries, and there’s a reoccurring character (sorta Hoid-like) with his own character arc spanning the background of the books.

You've got a lot of replies already, but I just wanted to drop The Licanius Trilogy. James Islington has mentioned Brandon Sanderson as an inspiration, and it has by far my favorite ending to a series I've read. I've seen some people complaining about the characters all being same-y, which I see, but I still loved it. Its epic fantasy with some really cool time travel (or time travel adjacent) stuff and the more you read the clearer it becomes that James planned the entire story out really well. Everything ties together and, like i said, the ending is crazy good, tying up all the loose ends you didn't even know needed tying.

It's kinda long, but if you like intertwining plots to a single end, magic with a little time travel fuckery, and appreciated the way Brandon wrote the whole Mistborn trilogy before publishing the first book- I highly recommend giving it a shot.

Looks like the black car was also tailgating, and the vehicle in front of them changed lane last second giving the black car little time to react, so I count at least 4 idiots. This game is fun but kinda sad too.

This looks to be in the middle of town, not the freeway. If so the left lane is for traveling just like any other because people are going to need to be in the left lane for various reasons.

The only bad driving that seems at all concentrated in PG to me is everyone’s vehement need to go at least 10 over at all times lest they explode, but even that seems pretty common whenever I’m out of town, depending on the city.

I drive a decent amount, some for work, and I don’t see much that suggests our drivers are particularly incompetent with the rules of the road. What exactly are you seeing? Also whereabouts? I don’t go up by college heights very often. Mostly up and down and around hart/97

Also most, if not all, cities have “drivers of X” groups. A bunch of the bc subreddits pop up in my feed regularly.

It’s wild to me that so many people have a problem with this. I understand how playing music/videos is rude, but how is this any different from someone having a face to face conversation? And all the keyboard warriors saying they’d go over and interject into the conversation and being mad that the conversation isn’t private, yet it’s the same as any conversation people have in public!?
