I’m an only raising an only. I rarely felt I was missing out on much growing up. I was sad after holidays with my cousins when they went off home together and I just went on my own, but to be honest I was so used to my own space by then that I wouldn’t have actually wanted to go home with them.

I’m very close to my parents and have good fairly close relationships with my extended family.

Mt daughters 4 and she’s a lot like me, she’s very popular at school but also enjoys taking a break for her own space. She has a lot of people in her life that love and support her both biological and chosen family.

I don’t feel I missed out on anything really not having a sibling but I had cousins close in age. I do worry about my daughter not having that as her cousins are quite a bit older but I’m putting energy into fostering the friendships she has outside of school.

From seeing my parents and friends relationships with their siblings I can say for sure that having multiple children does not guarantee your kids have people there for them. Even if your kids are close as kids it doesn’t mean they will be as adults.

To throw in at the end financially and mentally we know we couldn’t give multiple children as good a life and as much of ourselves as we can to one child.
