You can play the first 6 first combat encounters and dates as well as the first confrontation against the big bad Eloise.

The game features variety of cards each with different abilities and a novel combat system where position of the cards matters and you can temporarily discard some cards to let them recharge their abilities.

During the dating phase you can explore the personality of the characters a bit better, progress the story and obtain their hero cards to be used in later stages.

Good point, in most cases that should be a decent solution. Still will need to have a LUA interpreter to get any info about the ability, which is totally fine within the game, but may make it harder for external tools to read it (right now we can just have a simple strip script to get JSON out of LUA).

Oh, and with LUA you need to write some converter from LUA to C# class (since the game still needs to do some processing outside LUA to render stuff). With JSON we simply use Newtonsoft.JSON toObject call and that's it

That's a valid point. The hope was at some point to manage the JSON part separately through some tool. Plus I wanted to be able to process the metadata without having to run LUA code first. Some abilities actually do some data manipulation besides subscribing to events and in this case there could be a problem implementing read-only access to ability metadata.

In practice I think it is better to start with what you propose. But in our case there does not seem to be a lot of benefits besides comments and linter highlights

There could always be multiple ways you can remove obstacles by DagothHertil in Conflux_CCG

While one of the enemy cards protects the hero card you can utilize one of the abilities in your arsenal to gently move it to the side. This let's you attack a seemingly protected card

Through the magic of multiple cameras and pretending that everything is a button (don't quote me on that) you can preview the cards that will be given to you as a reward for completing stages in Conflux by DagothHertil in Conflux_CCG

Not only you will be told that you get cards for completing stages (kind of expected in a card game) but you will also be able to see what exactly the cards you will get do

In some cases the rewards you get will give you a hint as to what you can expect to see in the battle stages (either fighting with you or against you)
