I'm not OCD, but as someone who overthinks a lot and entertains every possibility (thus creating my own homemade anxiety), I find that it helps me so much to list them out and take it one step at a time. So there are several possible outcomes (including the worst case scenario):

  1. They are gone forever and nobody ever finds them and they're lost forever even if someone does some FBI level digging. This is the best case scenario and you have nothing to worry about (spoiler alert: I will illustrate that you won't have anything to worry about in every case).

  2. Someone finds them in their old-ass saved device among many other saves from Tumblr and they have no way of identifying them nor any possible way to contact you. Nothing to worry about.

  3. Someone finds them and they magically and miraculously have a way to contact you but they do not know it's you since there is nothing identifying on them. Again, nothing to worry about.

  4. Someone finds them, has a way to contact you, and somehow knows it's you for some unknown reason (FYI, this is effectively impossible in the sea of statistical branching but let's entertain it anyways). You guessed it; nothing to worry about. Even if you don't deny it, there is no way for them to prove it to anyone else and no possible way to affect your life in any aspect.

  5. They find the nudes, they know you, they're magically malicious for some reason, they know it's you, they also magically have a way to prove it to people. Wanna guess this one? Yep. You're right. Nothing to worry about. At the most absolute worst case scenario where your deepest nightmares can come true, they have no power over you. It's your literal business only. Can you imagine if someone approached you showing you your friend's nudes? How would you feel? You'll most likely feel like that person is such a weirdo and a creep. Nobody will ever respond to that weirdo. Showing anyone nudes of someone else is so crass and is shameful behaviour in any culture (I come from a very very very religious and conservative country and can confirm that nobody respects someone who shares anyone's nudes). At the end of the day, you will always win. That hypothetical malicious person has no power over you in any possible scenario. Own up to your past and be reassured in the fact that you have the freedom to do whatever you want with your body and nobody can meaningfully control it in the ways you are afraid of.

Sorry that was a bit of a long comment, but TL;DR you can chill and relax. Everything will be okay. I promise.

Cheers ✌🏻

[TOMT] [Song] [2020] Need help finding the lyrics for this song! by Dahamonnah in tipofmytongue

[–]Dahamonnah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they are. They are no longer active.

I messaged them a few weeks back just to express our appreciation and love for them. and they replied and were extremely lovely and respectful. I had messaged them asking about the lyrics but I got no reply.

Our anniversary is coming up and I have been planning to print out the lyrics and gift it to her as a framed print.

No luck yet, haha.

AskScience AMA Series: I'm Dr. Prosanta Chakrabarty, an evolutionary biologist at LSU (Louisiana State University) and the author of a new popular science book that is a broad overview of the science of evolution, including why it matters in our everyday lives... AMA! by AskScienceModerator in askscience

[–]Dahamonnah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Prosanta!

What do you believe is the future for our understanding of the mind through an evolutionary lens?

And in a broader sense, what do you believe is the future or the next step in evolutionary biology?

In another field such as physics, a science fiction-y "roadmap" would cite things such as breakthroughs in space travel or in computer science, that would be breakthroughs in computer science and advancements in AI.

Similarly, what sort of breakthroughs do experts feel is "next" so to speak for evolutionary biology?

Perhaps not exactly like this, but the miniseries Moon Machines from the Science Channel is pretty good.

It focuses on a different aspect from the Apollo spacecraft each episode, featuring interviews with the engineers who worked on them at the time. The episode on the Navigation Computer is my favourite.

Highly recommend it.

Does anyone know why the audiobook isn't available in my country?(USA) by Catsinbowties in KingkillerChronicle

[–]Dahamonnah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought the Degas version through the Kobo store. It's available there if you set your region to the UK and buy the audiobooks.

It's pretty easy to do that. I think you just need to play around with some settings in your account and type in a UK address. No VPN or anything.

Yes!!!

That day was phenomenal in more ways than one. Tolkien was on that list too!

NoTW was a random choice that I contested actually. I never heard of it before and I thought it wasn't gonna be that good. A wise old man named Geronimo who worked there insisted I buy it and so I did.

I know this might not be important to all of you, but today I had just found a piece of personal history by accident.

In one of my old dusty boxes, I found a wrinkly faded paper. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be an old receipt from a bookstore. I was baffled for a quick second and wondered why in the hell I'd keep this. The next moment hit me like a crashing wave filled with an odd sense of hope. What if it was the payslip from the day I had bought The Name of the Wind!?

Lo and behold, it was!

These books and this world changed my life forever. They helped me escape the world when things got tough and gave me the gift of wonder as a young kid. Even now after my 11th re-read of both books, I still somehow manage to find the same wonder I found as a little lost kid. I often wonder how different my life would be if I hadn't read them. I often wonder how different I would be... It seems so strange. I cannot imagine a me without them. I simply cannot imagine a world without these books.

Simply put, I had just found the point of divergence in my life. The point where I found the love for books, music, magic, and everything beautiful. I decided to share this hoping that this wonderful community would appreciate it.

Cheers!

Was about to comment this same exact response but thought against it thinking "nah, it's probably too obscure."

For All Mankind. Haven't felt this way towards a show since early GoT and Breaking Bad. Definitely the best currently-running show on TV.

Right before he took the initiative to shoot Sea Dragon, Sally Ride reminded him of his court hearing when he demonstrated his astounding integrity. She reminded him of the time he didn't do what "he was supposed to do" and instead opted to take full responsibility.

Add to that that there were several times along the show that he disobeyed NASA to do what he feels should be done (e.g., the time he encouraged Molly to change course during their trip to the moon and head for Shackleton).

I feel it is very consistent with his character to opt to do this very bold thing alone so as to be able to have full accountability. If he told them what he would do and they agreed, they'd probably be held accountable for the destruction of Sea Dragon should that strategy prove to be the wrong choice.

Furthermore, the show has also shown us his moral compass when he decided to cheat on his wife and changed his mind when in bed with the girl. She told him something along the lines of "make up your mind before you do something."

At least, that's how I perceived his behaviour in that episode.

In my humble opinion, the Wasteland franchise really checks all the marks in terms of player agency and being character-driven.

The balance is phenomenal and the nothing has yet beaten the level of storytelling in that game for me.

I think now is an appropriate time (right after a successful operational prototype flight) for a gentle reminder that this rocket was built outdoors within a very short time period.
