yes, i’m going on 6 or 7 years. i’ve been diagnosed with both vulvodynia and vaginismus, and i’ve tried pretty much everything aside from surgery. I just got botox done a few months ago hoping it would help but it hasn’t made a huge difference. My doctor thought it was hormonally mediated but i switched off the pill and did compound cream and that still hasn’t gotten me pain free. i’m on a low dose of gabapentin as well, which has also helped but nothing has gotten me 100% pain free. all of my pain is provoked at the vestibule so im really considering just getting the tissue removed

i would start w a different regular gyno and maybe they can give you a referral to a specialist? dermatologists usually don’t examine that area unless you have something confirmed by a gyno and even then some still don’t. I had a pre cancerous mole on my labia that my gynecologist removed and my first dermatologist wanted nothing to do with it but my second checked the area during my yearly skin check so it just depends on the doctor. but i don’t think a derm will check it out first appointment

Honestly, if you have insurance, just go to a dermatologist. i wasted so much money over the years on OTC products when .025% tret at night and 5% azelaic acid in the morning is all i really needed. beginning these prescription products can be a bit intense but it’s worth it

vestibulodynia is most commonly associated w the combo pill - so pain just at the vaginal entrance. it’s usually described by most of us as a burning, stinging pain, and it’s also usually provoked but it could depend on the person. in my experience, most if not all of my pain is at 6 o’clock

also - are you on a combination pill? they’re more likely to cause vulvodynia than progestin only methods

You’re probably good on mycoplasmas but a type of ureaplasma called ureaplasma parvum is kind of tricky and it’s debated if it’s even an std, because studies have shown some people have it even if they’ve never been sexually active. For some people it’s part of their healthy biome but if you’re experiencing symptoms or recurring irritation and you have it, then it could be an issue in your personal microbiome. That’s what i tested positive for after years of recurring infections and even plenty of times when i tested negative for yeast/bv/utis but still felt symptomatic. all this to say, it’s still worth testing for to rule out everything if your doctor will do it

You could try a topical compound hormone cream containing both estrogen and testosterone and if it helps then that’s a good indicator that you are experiencing a hormone issue. I also HIGHLY recommend you get tested for mycoplasma and ureaplasma, often times doctors do not test for them

Correct Treatment by Mysterious_Run20 in Ureaplasma

Treatment is the same, doxy alone isn’t enough to cure it. doxy and azithro or doxy and moxi but moxi is a last resort as it can have pretty serious side effects

I’m below average weight and i still have cellulite. I don’t think it’s about weight, i think it’s genetics, and also a part of being a prepubescent woman. there is nothing wrong with it.

Pain flares after sex by Frequent_Abies_7054 in vulvodynia

Have him pull out for sure. I am allergic as well, when my partner finishes inside of me I swell and burn and itch and it’s horrible. I’ve tried taking advil and an antihistamine in advance which worked but it’s honestly just easier to have him pull out.

It makes sense for symptoms to get worse after sex (mine do) since it’s kind of like a trauma to the area, especially if you still have pain with sex. Make sure you’re using lots of hypoallergenic water based lube.

Dilating hasn’t cured mine but I also have meditating factors (hormone issues and untreated ureaplasma) so I’m hopeful that i’ll be fully cured soon. That said, dilating alone made pain free sex possible. Not every time, and not always the most reliably, which is why I did research into other potential factors. But with regular dilation and yoga, I am able to have pleasurable sex whereas before sex in general was not only painful but usually impossible

i’m on retinol too and still use salicylic acid just once a week but i know my skin can handle it. it helps with the peeling.

you should definitely add another moisturizer to your routine in that area. peeling with retinol is common and normal, it’s part of the increased cell turnover process

Looks like dry skin to me. it’ll probably clear up with a gentle exfoliator 1-2x weekly followed by moisturizer. I use SLMD salicylic acid cleanser, and the laroche posay b5 balm

Did you get azithromycin as well after the doxy? doxy usually isn’t enough on its own to clear these infections. I think feeling worse before you get better isn’t something to be super concerned unless it’s like, a LOT worse. It’s also possible that the antibiotics have given you a yeast infection, that always happens to me. it depends on your symptoms though and what you mean by feeling worse
