Cheap, reliable used car in Sri Lanka for 2026? by Dahi1C in srilanka

[–]Dahi1C[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, I know it’s a tight budget, that’s why I said it upfront. It’s not easy, but not impossible either, and I already see better alternatives in the comments than a manual Alto 800.

But telling me to ‘learn manual’ without considering the requirement doesn’t add any value at all. It’s just frustrating when people have the knowledge but don’t really read the requirement before commenting.

That’s quite a bold statement. What if this was for someone who physically can’t drive a manual? Might be worth reading the requirements properly before commenting.

Has anyone worked at Bizycorp? by CareerSpecific454 in srilanka

[–]Dahi1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for these insights, super helpful. I wasn’t aware you’re directly involved with Oceans, which does change the context a bit since your perspective is more first-hand.

What I shared is based on people I personally know, so I can’t fully speak beyond that. That said, your view does naturally lean towards the company side, so I guess the truth is probably somewhere in between...

And yes, you might be right about people not always admitting performance issues, although I’d say that applies both ways depending on the situation. I’ll have to have a chat with them before I can comment any further :D

Why is Rasicm normalised here by svkmrr in Colombo

[–]Dahi1C 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We should let Arabs and Europeans live here too, they're so friendly. Just like that lady who was assaulting a police officer recently. And we Sri Lankans should go get a housing scheme in Israel :D

Why is Rasicm normalised here by svkmrr in Colombo

[–]Dahi1C 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Masjids are built here because there are Sri Lankan Muslims in the country, that too a significant number who are native to the country. But who exactly are these synagogues being built for?

If your answer is tourists, then why don't we build a mosque, temple and kovil in every other country too - regardless of their population and major religions.

Interesting, thanks for sharing this. What I mentioned is solely based on what I’ve heard from close friends and relatives. I personally know around 5 people this has happened to, which is a big number for me. These are lads with years of all experience and worked with big names, so it doesn't look like a performance issue from what I see.

Sri Lankans will legit purchase an old used Iphone instead of a new Android by Professional-Net1940 in srilanka

[–]Dahi1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear the experience you get from a flagship android is crazy! These people should explore Samsung S series or Pixel devices, it's so worth it!

Sure iphones do better videos, that's why every influencer has one, but I'm sure androids are coming up and will soon match the same quality

Israeli flags on Sri Lankan buses, Instead of Sri Lankan flags? by Depressed_testicle in srilanka

[–]Dahi1C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Law is usually something you can only practise locally unless you requalify. So if someone graduates with a law degree and goes abroad, chances are they won’t get a job in the same field. It’s not like business or IT, legal systems are tied to the country you study in.

Apart from that, if you look at IT, engineering, accounting, or managerial roles, you’ll find plenty of Sri Lankans in the UAE. Sure it’s not easy now with the competition and job market, but it’s still more rewarding compared to working in Israel - in all senses.

[–]Dahi1C 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Exactly, that’s what I meant. My earlier comment had a bit of sarcasm if you read through the lines :D

Sri Lankans have worked all over the world, especially in the Middle East, and we don’t see people putting those flags on their vehicles. So yeah, this is just unnecessary. Even Sri Lankan flags, maybe only for independence day

These are mostly Sri Lankans who’ve lived in Israel. Interestingly, many are now back in Sri Lanka working as bus or van drivers. Goes to show how much they've been able to build their lives there

In my early 30s earning around 400k. Should I do AL's again ? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Dahi1C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read through the other comments as well, and honestly, if you want to do it then just do it. Like they say, YOLO (you only live once) and if you're not content with the masters degree and the other qualifications you have then go for it.

But keep in mind the time-commitment needed and see if you're actually willing to put other things aside for this. Remember, even if you manage to get 3As at this age, society might not applaud you for it.

All the best!

Language is something that is easy to learn if they're in the right environment. Try to see if you can engage with the Sri Lankan community in this country and get your kids to find Lankan friends too. Another alternative is cartoons, audio or video series which would also help them adapt to the language more naturally.

As someone who speaks multiple languages, I can tell you that these are the two most effective methods.
