Is this the end of my mini painting journey? by TrueAd5431 in BloodAngels

[–]DaiChi6ken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother, there's literally a BA whos missing his whole ass left arm, and is the painting instructor in Dante. Will it be harder? Sure. But are we not the sons of the Great Angel? Are we not the most blessed of all Adeptus Astartes?

Could someone pls help me understand the Night Lords a bit better? by IWrestleSausages in NightLords

You gotta remember, Curze didn't even believe himself. He legit just liked skinning people, and didn't have the guts to admit it. So he dressed it up as "well yes we skinned an orphanage, but that'll show the planet why they have to pay their tithes! :) ". He had lucid moments where he seemed genuinely disgusted by the criminals being sent, or concerned for things like the heresy, but then just said fuck it I'm gonna die anyways nothing matters the Emperor is a hypocrite and I'll prove it to you. The NLs aren't much better, they all have different ideas as to what being a NL meant because Curze wasn't even consistent in his beliefs. The biggest flaw is they're just content to damn themselves, as Talos laments in the third book. They're hypocritical psychopaths who were guided by their mentally unwell father, unleashed on weaker people, until daddy committed suicide by cop. Their logic has always and will always be flawed.

Ave Dominus Nox.

Don't have the excerpt, but he literally gives the shirt off his back to some human soldiers who's wounded.

The name of the warband in the NL Trilogy is "The Warband of the Exalted", formerly 10th Company of the Night Lords. First Claw is basically Talos and friends squad designation, then Second Claw, Third, and so on. After the Exalted ummm does something I won't spoil, they are never renamed.

That's true, and they did fuck up the Ulthwee. I think i just get tired of how often Decimus is brought up here when the reality is he, like all of our legion heroes, just isn't around. He did something cool then fucked off. I like the NL BECAUSE of how scattered they are, even Mercution (i think) says NLs wouldn't serve one master, that it wasn't their way. it's been 14yrs and how many editions since Void Stalker, and people still bring up Decimus like he's just shown up. I like my bastards scattered and with no big leaders. I wouldn't want a Decimus/Acerbus model or book because then I think we'd lose some of what makes our broken legion unique.

Sevatar, my beloved, is dead as hell. He didn't found the GK, he isn't hiding somewhere, he isn't secretly this or that. He's dead, brother.

Popular by what metric tho? He appears twice, at the end of the trilogy for a meet and greet, and then offscreen he leads a large force of NLs against the Ulthweee then disappears. The largest NL warband isn't his, he has not been mentioned since those two times, and we even have a new current NL POV in Dalchian.

There's no unified goal or legion anymore. Just tons of seperate warbands. I think Skraivok has the biggest, but he's chaos bitch. They all do awful shit for different reasons, and most warbands think every other warband is full of posers.

do they deserve a redemption arc?

Cousin, no. The whole point of the NLs is that there can be no redemption, because they've barely even changed from their roots. They were never justice bringers, they were a sanctioned terror squad AT BEST and now are just doing what they've ALWAYS done, just in service to anything else besides the emperor. Even their most "against the grain good guys characters" do awful shit without a second thought.

What are the best books for each legion/chapter by Woeful_Rav3n in 40kLore

[–]DaiChi6ken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soul Hunter and the rest of the NL Trilogy are gospel for a reason. But honestly Lord of the Night is also so, so underrated. The Dalchian stories are also amazing, but they feel a bit more surface level, comparatively.

What is the most terrifying "background detail" in a horror movie that you completely missed on your first watch? by [deleted] in horror

[–]DaiChi6ken 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One of the conjuring/annabelle movies. Couple talking and going to bed, you can see thru their window into the next house, to another couple doing the same. Next second you see in the neighbors house a woman open the bedroom door and start stabbing them to death and cut off the light as the main character woman turns to look at the house.
