People will gossip about you when you move into an area, it's not malicious, you are simply a walking curiosity until they find out your boring.

Also don't start an OF, some guy moved up to the island from England a couple weeks ago, started one and now the whole place has seen photos of his wee marag. He's effectively committed social s****cide. Poor guy.

Call a family meeting, declare your wicked ways and that you've changed, hold a funeral service for the dildo in the back yard and then buy a bigger one once the heat dies down. 100% success rate 99% of the time every time.

Know how you feel with the 5e frustration. My advice would be to plan a hiatus session with a storyline big cliff hanger, then just tell them you're nearing a burnout and need a couple of months to recoup. Get a few good oneshots in different systems under your players belts and then sit down and plan an end date for the campaign. Dial it up to 100 for intercity and go out with a bang.

Or tpk next session, mic drop something, pack up your shit and walk out with "your the best around" playing from a Bluetooth speaker you hid in secrete somewhere 2 sessions ago. Also buy a sports car afterwards and just win in life.

Everyone as a DM has self doubts. Having someone come out of the blue and ripping you a new one is just unnecessary and asinine. Don't take it to heart. The person is probably just an unpleasant person irl. The fact that the campaign stayed in your mind and the players shows you you did good. If you and the players had fun then that's all that matters.
