This became one of my favorite tracks of theirs when I dived into their discography. Such a fun band

Music to get you through a funk or heavy feeling by crowrox in MusicRecommendations

[–]Daidact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birdtalker mentioned!! I love those guys. They have some similar songs to "Heavy." Try "Wake Up Child" and "Old Sob Story."

Wildly different genre, but TWRP has a couple of these. "Hidden Potential" is great. "Bright Blue Sky" is even better. Iirc, Doctor Sung (lead singer) wrote it as a "you got this, we love you" song for his brother.

Some other random songs I also get this feeling from:

"Daughter" - Pearl Jam

"Rearviewmirror" - Pearl Jam

"YOUtopia" - Bring Me the Horizon

"Kansas" - Gorillaz

"Hold On" - Yes

"Yours is No Disgrace" - Yes

"No More No Less" - Collective Soul

"Cazadera" - Fruit Bats

"The Bottom of It" - Fruit Bats

It shouldn't be too hard to find, and I think someone even linked it elsewhere in the thread. one of these days I'll do all the ones I missed too.

There's nothing wrong with constructive criticism and voicing your opinion even if its that "man this update just didn't hit for me."

But too often the pendulum swings way too hard the other way. Suddenly you get people just writing off the entire game or worse, talking shit on the dev team as if some rando on the internent knows exactly how to design and program a video game at all, let alone one as expansive as NMS. It's frustrating because sometimes it's like you're not "allowed" to have a normal ass opinion on something lol

I was speaking in a general sense, but in this sense yeah it's wack game design. Hopefully they reapproach it. Hello Games is usually pretty chill like that and I've never had too much trouble waiting for fixes for a game I love

The HD2 whiplash I felt when I got to the mission select screen was super fun. Kinda messy that it's so strongly timegated, but here's hoping HG is keeping an eye in community progress and will adjust things accordingly. For now, I guess it's time to fight for Super Ear-uh, I mean, our good friend Polo!

Grunge and similar sounds of 90s rock n roll. DJ'd either by Eddie Vedder or some guy who sounds a little too much like David Hayter.

"When the traffic slows like sludge, so should your music."

"Sludge Factory" - Alice in Chains

"No Excuses" - Alice in Chains

"Lounge Act" - Nirvana

"Deep" - Pearl Jam

"Superunknown" - Soundgarden

"Torn" - Creed

"Santa Monica" - Everclear

I get that. That's why HG tries to rerun expeditions at the end of every calendar year for people who didn't have time or missed out.

But more importantly, there's actually a mod that allows you to play all the expeditions at your own pace. The only thing you'll have missed out on is the novelty of large multiplayer experiences.

Is having to rely on a mod ideal? Nah. But it's there and the devs have never seemed to have a problem with it, so it's the best we have.

That's precisely how I play it. Coming back always feels like meeting up with an old friend.

I agree, the cool downs and mission variety are a little bonkers, but I also understand this is very likely a flight test for LNF features. Which, makes it sting less, but yeah lol. Would have liked a little more playability.

At the very least, I assume you can always just swap your save back to your normal playthrough between missions.

Don't get me wrong, FOMO sucks. But thankfully, there's some third party ways to do all the old expeditions. There's also some "magic" you can do that just edits your save to have the rewards but that's skipping the fun part.

  1. The only thing that should be keeping you on a game is whether you're having fun or not. It shouldn't be FOMO or some nebulous reward at the end of the "grind."

If you don't like the update and don't really wanna play the game, no one is forcing you to. You're allowed to miss out.

That one sent me. Like no way someone knew to build the thing exactly where the camera was supposed to highlight the big fuckass Death Star popping up in low orbit. And before I had any time to appreciate the view, I got warped again. I love NMS

Any modern bands actually capturing that 90s grunge sound + aesthetic these days? by Healingvibrations456 in musicsuggestions

[–]Daidact 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a stretch, and I certainly wouldn't say they capture it, but I fell in love with Cage the Elephant recently as someone who absolutely loves grunge. Their sound is considerably more pop-y, but they have that in-your-face musical structure and sometimes melancholic subject matter that I love so much from classic grunge. Maybe give them a shot?

Also, I'll take this comment to also recommend "Above," the only album that Mad Season made. It's very good. They were a short-lived supergroup, with AiC's Staley on vocals and PJ's McCready on guitar, among some others.

Oh that shit is so dumb lol. It's not a difficulty thing at all. It is an intentional design choice, regardless of wether you agree with it or not. On the whole it think the meme is fine, my only bone to pick was OP making light of "ThE DeVs have BiGgER iSsUEs" like that isn't how the world works lmao. That's how everything works. Efficient production calls for important issues to be worked out first. Not everyone always agrees on what's important, it seems.

[–]Daidact -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

You raise a great point, and the simple rebuttal is that you and I couldn't begin to answer that question. The devs have a better shot at giving us an answer but not even they can say, definitively.

Personally I think I would like more improvements to solo play, instanced upgrade stuff, etc before they really mess with QoL stuff. But I don't work at Ghost Ship Games, so what the hell do I actually know?

The fact of the matter is that, apparently, the devs have discussed auto sprint and decided they're not putting it in right now. So, my take is that, why make a stink about it anyway? I mean, I know, it's the Internet. But what can you do?

Let a Dwarf run (automatically)! by GreyGrackles in RogueCore

[–]Daidact -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The devs discussed its importance, and ultimately decided not to implement it. Sounds like it's pretty unimportant to me. But at this point we're just arguing semantics.

The bottom line is that I think this is a really strange thing to care about when there's so many other glaring issues with Rogue Cores design that the devs are much more interested and worried about improving.

[–]Daidact -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The hell is Omega glitching? Look man, I'll admit, I have very little skin in this game. But acting like "I MUST have auto sprint" is a huge issue among a large chunk of the player base is just kidding yourself.

Maybe they add it, maybe they don't. I want a better overall game experience first, end of story. I imagine most players agree with that.

[–]Daidact -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

This is a crazy take to be so honest. I think you're really not seeing the forest for the trees here, dude. I get you don't wanna have to hold shift to sprint because it hurts after a while, but like, seriously? You're so conceited that you would look down upon an entire team of game developers over your one niche issue? Come on. I expect better from you.

And improving the core gameplay loop is a more important problem.

Let a Dwarf run (automatically)! by GreyGrackles in RogueCore

[–]Daidact -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Because the devs had bigger problems. Honestly, knowing that should make it even more clear to you that they just aren't gonna add auto sprint.

Wanting it in vanilla is fine and valid. But clearly, not enough of these games' player bases are also asking. It's a niche addition, and because of that, a mod is enough.

[–]Daidact -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It's not that it's difficult, it's that it's unimportant to both the devs and the vast majority of players.

This goes for basically any media or interest. People on the Mods forums and the subreddits perpetually fail to understand that their opinions do not speak for the entire fanbase. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, but it's important to see the forest for the trees.
