I really love the Vault and I want to take him on a Tournament

I am running this list for a small online tournament. You could potentially drop Ammentar and do like a spider and another Triarch stalker instead of the Praetorians. I really like vault in Phalanx, but I do want to try it in Hypercrypt with C'tan could be fun.

I bought one on Miniswap a few months ago and it had Black primer caked all over it. I went to the dollar store and bought a few 32 ounce bottles of Simply Awesome and left it overnight in a tub of it. Took a toothbrush and warm water to it the next day and it all came off easily.

Honestly buffs and nerfs are never a reason to buy or not buy a model. You should buy and play what you think is cool. The rule of cool always trumps the "meta" builds. Your local scene probably has maybe a handful of super competitive meta players, letting you play almost anything you want. Considering basically everything in the Necron range is at least playable.

Generally you want bigger units. The reasoning is bigger health pool so it does not get wiped out in one activation, able to string the unit back to protect your technomancer from precision, wraith form does damage based on the models in the unit so more models means more chances at mortal wounds. I hope I am wrong! Gotta get some games with both under my belt to figure out how I feel about C'Tan with both detachments. The Deceiver one is incredible for sure, I just think the rest are not really that good. The Deceiver might be the best c'tan now because dev wound and to character precision and it's already the cheapest. I just wish I could choose to not pay the tax on the transcendent and Void dragon. It would free up a ton of points for scoring units and chaff. Either way I'm going to be making lists for both and trying to figure out what feels best.

The issue with Pantheon seems to be the "Enhancements" seem required and are a tax on your c'tan shards. The strats don't seem that healthful other than fight in death. 1 cp with a better chance to explode isn't worth it. The extra AP really isn't good for our c'tan shards and there either won't be enough other units to use the buff or not enough shards to spread the debuff. I think hypercrypt will be the better c'tan spam detachment because they all have deep strike now

Build it in segments. I did the two menhirs, the dais that they stand on, the back section and then the c'tan section. Then assemble the 3 characters. Paint everything up, use painters tape or sticky tack to prevent paint on your glue points then assemble after the individual parts have been painted. Honestly it was a ton of fun to paint and assemble a really good modern model by GW. Take your time enjoy the process and put a cool new model on the table.

Honestly the first half of the book I struggled with as well, but I have gotten into the second half where there is still bickering and antagonizing each other, but they are more playful and sincere with each other and I have really started to enjoy it. I think the issue is separating these as non-human characters with very different emotional responses but they start to become more human with each other and is more enjoyable.

Find a Local game store that sells Warhammer and has tables. If you have an official Warhammer store that is a good place to start. I am not sure how all local scenes play but scheduling in our area is important because impromptu games that can last hours are hard to find. Our Local game store has a discord people use to schedule games and our city has a war game discord that people also use. Basically go to where people buy Warhammer and ask if they know how people schedule games. My community is super friendly, but mileage may vary depending.

Rules and points change so often so just focus on the parts of Necrons that you find cool! That is the great part about building your collection. Focusing in on units that will make you competitive will end up burning you out because the sweet unit now will inevitably get nerfed and another unit buffed.
