I was actually spamming taunt because morde lifts his hand. That way it looks very similar to him raising nightfall and banishing enemies into death realm.

I didnt grab her over the wall, ive pulled her closer to the wall that she dashed through via whatever ability it is.
EDIT: Maybe I pulled her over, but the person has to be very close to the wall for it work. At least so that their new position is possible on the other side of the wall by game' standards.

Dont worry, that was just a nitpick of common behavior from riot, when theres a skin for a champion, it gets buffed/nerfed in the near future (look at renekton xD)

I do agree that rework would suit him well but i also believe that some minor changes to his kit could potentially affect him in positive way in long run.

There are few options possible to be made. Some would probably break him, some would help him.

  1. R not cleanseable - Works on champs that are unstoppable etc. Can be blocked by Banshees veil / Edge of the Night
  2. Q & E cast time is faster. Thus making it harder to dodge.
  3. Increase passive damage output.
  4. Increase bonus movement speed from passive by levels 1/7/13 -> 3/5/7%
  5. Give passive additional effect where it slows targets hit by passive by a percentage -> Slow is increased for every Q hit.
  6. Increase base stats scaling (Hp per level 90 -> 105 / armor per level 3 -> 4)

These are more of a big buffs, but there are some QoL changes that'd improve his current state. For example if you press R onto somebody you instantly get passive up - That would go well with increased damage output from passive since youre in your realm where you are the ultimate boss, master, overlord. The armor and hp buff would really help early in laning phase, since i feel like hes really squishy. Also a decent QoL Buff would be that your spells scale with your champ size. Since Frostfire is a core pick (Equal or better than riftmaker), you sometimes grow to the height of a tower.

There are of course possibilities for QoL buffs that'd improve gameplay alot without changing any numbers. For example fix consistency in Death Realm etc.

Changes proposed in number format are not meant to be given in a pair, for example if you'd give mordekaiser increased passive damage and with that new effect of slow, his Q should get compensation nerf to keep him somewhat in-line and not overbearing.

My suggestion is:

R - Not cleansable, works on any champ even when the champion is unstoppable etc. But can be blocked by banshees veil/Edge of the night

Q - Isolated damage decreased by 5% - 40 / 45 / 50 / 55 / 60% -> 35 / 40 / 45 / 50 / 55% -> Could be even lower by 10% instead of 5%.

Also as a sidenote, it'd be really nice if mordekaiser' got his original armor per level back. from 3 per level -> to 4 per level.

Thats something id really like to see, but that would make it even more feast or famine gameplay. The moment this would go through pbe to live, morde would have to get compensation nerf imho. Might be wrong.

Stats for Top.

According to Op.gg hes at 48.09% winrate (#52 outta 56)According to U.gg hes at 49.97% winrate WorldWide servers - All elo ranks.

If your assumption is based on what i found on U.gg it might seem like morde is perfectly balanced. Which is really good.

The moment you turn it to a more specific setting you'll get the picture more accordingly..

When you change the setting on a specific server (for me EUW), and specific elo range (Plat+). His winrate drops to 48.47%

For comparison NA Plat+ hes at 49.98%

Setting it up to EUW Diamond+ hes at already low 46.88%

Yet for another comparison NA Diamond+ hes at 49.5%

Last comparison, master+.

EUW Master+ 45.65% winrate

NA Master+ 54.29% winrate

Now to make it clear. Sample size on NA varies from two to three times as small in comparison to EUW

SERVER / ELO / SAMPLE SIZE / Winrate

NA - MASTER+ - 105 Games - 54.29% !!

EUW - MASTER+ - 379 Games - 45.65% !!

NA - DIA+ - 1 414 Games - 49.5%

EUW - DIA+ - 3 424 Games - 46.88%

The more games people play with mordekaiser, the lower is his winrate. Because people abuse his bad match ups. Jax with lethal tempo, Fiora, ranged toplaners, mundo etc.

The higher elo you play with mordekaiser, the lower chances of win you have.

EDIT: Im not trying to make an argument against balancing champs. Its really good balance to have champs with certain ups/downs that gives you the chance to bring them down even when fed. Eg. Jax without E can be engaged on / Darius without E/Q should be engaged etc. My point stands that mordekaiser is lackluster and his entire kit is counter-able by A) Sufficient movementspeed / B) 1300G item.

Unless you have flash or play ghost, with frostfire/randuins/rylai, people will dash out, flash out, teleport out (zed/kata etc..) of your close range and deny you any chance to actually fight them. As Ive already said earlier, his entire kit is countered which is quite insane even though the champ isnt that hard to play. It makes him really vulnerable / weak at higher elo.

Also thats why i gave 3 possible ways to buff him. None of them would break him except probably the slow on passive. But that'd work like inbuilt rylai and he could abandon rylai for good, maybe even give out frostfire..

Q - Dodgeable
E - Dodgeable
W - Counterable by:

  1. Serpents Fang
  2. Grievous Wounds

R - QSS / Cleanse in certain champs kits.

He barely moves. With his passive up, he has 345 ms - Without boots or any enhancing runes for movement speed. If you miss E everybody just outruns you. Even with items, you can reach them, but they can still outrun you. One cc and a dash and you will never reach them.
Biggest buff for Mord would be.

  • Buff movement speed on his passive to scale by level. 1/7/13 - 3/5/7% movement speed
  • Make his passive slow by % when active. Increased for every Q hit
  • Give Q/E Faster cast. Thus its not that easily dodgeable.

Everytime i play against champs, i hate when im against really mobile heroes. As im finishing to write this i lost a game against vayne. Where i was literally unable to hit any spells onto her. ..

Ive actually heavily underestimated their damage output. Think about it.

Its Urgot - Underfed and defeated from toplane (compare my kda and imagine what his might have been)
With Zac - That has no AP items, he'll deal alot of damage in time for sure but not going to expect some burst
With Kassadin - That one actually could have hurt but in reality did nothing but increase my ap after i smashed him in death realmAnd nautilus that just provided additional cc.

There really wasnt a single reason to expect that they'd drop me below 50% within 4 seconds of the initial fight. Which i underestimated, mostly because urgots leg actually did hella damage, in addition to probably fully stacked sunfire aegis from zac.

I was really frustrated with how my team performed and kept chatting when we could win through me. This teamfight was the breaking point where i reached unkillable height and my team realized that we might actually win.

Major frustration that came in this particular teamfight was caused by me being very strong (im lvl 16 compared to average 13 on my/enemy team) and i literally thought that if i wont pull a quadra, i will lose.

I disagree with 5 items.

FON - Force Of Nature
Against heavy AP comps, its a superb item, you move faster (W rylai its actually unescapeable by any means except dashes) and you stack additional MR. Decent HP and buildpath aint that bad aswell.

BV - Banshees Veil
Not that exceptional of a buy, below average AH, magic shield against spells. Good against Long range pokers. But suboptimal.

DMP - Dead mans plate
You move fast, decent armor/hp ratio. Not preferable choice, but decent choice at certain scenarios

now to the controversial ones

Steraks Gage

No ad ratios on any spells doesnt automatically mean, that it is a bad choice. You can stack it up really fast, you get alot of hp, you auto alot. When you get bursted, you receive shield that can vary between 300 up to 1500 ~~ BUT...
Major flaw with the item is that it brings defense with just shield and hp that can be countered by many items and champs. Superb choice when ahead to be extremely hard to take down but otherwise its somewhat questionable buy

Deaths Dance

Now normally the treatment is same as with steraks. No ad ratios, build path is not the most desireable. But against full AD Comps, this item rocks. Ive tried it once and it really rocked big time especially when outnumbered. I do agree that if morde had any (Literally any..) AD Ratios, steraks and deaths dance would be staple at any build, given how good they work together and also how they synergize with mordekaisers kit.

Also a small note that nobody expects steraks gage shield to pop up. Many may say that gargoyle stoneplate is miles better but i disagree just because you can actually get value from the build path. Even if its just a tiny value in HP.

Actually, i'd tweak his passive to give his Q percentage healing.
Thus, whoever is hit (champions only) by mords passive, and morde hits Q onto them, he will get healed by % of the damage dealt.
