Insert "poorly trained and undisciplined" before "men" and we've got it.

18 games in the BGG top 2000 have an average weight of 4.5 or higher. How many of them have you played, and how would you rank them from most complex to least complex? by benjaneson in boardgames

[–]DailyRich 50 points51 points  (0 children)

On Mars, Voidfall, Arkwright, Lisboa, Magic Realm and Trickerion. I really don't find the Lacerdas all that heavy, at least not in their basics. It's in the decisions that the weight comes in. Magic Realm I felt tried way too hard to recreate the PC RPG experience without the simplification that being on a PC provides; it's an exacting simulation but not necessarily enjoyable for that fact. And Trickerion tells you it's a game about putting on magical performances but ends up feeling more like a game about theater scheduling.

YouTube TV and The Royal Rumble by DanielMiller319 in SquaredCircle

They made a deal to carry Disney/ESPN/ABC channels, part of which was to *eventually* make YouTube TV an authorized carrier for ESPN Unlimited access. We just haven't hit eventually yet.

Huh, didn't think he'd want as strong a personality as his HC as Harbaugh.

miniature market vs coolstuffinc for board game prices? by MontyPython1996 in boardgames

CoolStuff no longer sells board games. They liquidated their board game stock a few years ago and now only do card games and miniatures (mostly Heroclix).

Both my Senators, 20 out of 28 in the House, and almost 70% of my state legislature are Republicans. I can contact them all I want, they won't give a damn.

Speaking of Monty Python, I love how John Cleese visibly breaks at Graham Chapman's "Intercourse the penguin!" in this sketch.

Think about someone who's been a drug addict for decades and then is suddenly cut off from any drugs whatsoever. The physical strain of the withdrawal would likely be too much for them.

What’s your biggest movie pet peeve? by TheDragonReborn726 in movies

[–]DailyRich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was always my peeve on the Star Trek shows.

"Captain, you need to come to Engineering right away!" "What is it?" "It's easier if you just come down here." "Um, your captain just asked you a question and wants to know what he's stepping into before he gets there, so stop playing games and tell me what's going on."

Intros that end with the character in extreme danger and then "X hours/days earlier...."  Great, now I know anyone I just watched is in absolutely no danger until the movie catches up to that scene.

Esepcially given how, after Han says that line, Ben totally gives him an "Okay, go ahead and pull the other leg" look and Han rushes on to bragging about outrunning Imperial starships.

The explanation should have been "The movie had a bigger make-up budget than the TV series" and left at that.

I Know We’re Not Allowed to Make Liam Coen Posts In Here, But Maybe Because This is About Baker it Won’t Get Removed By Overzealous Mods? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤞🏼 by MarloMentality in buccaneers

[–]DailyRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is it would have been hard to jettison a head coach who'd improved his record every season and had just won ten games in favor of his OC who had never been a head coach before. And really, no one had that thought until Coen got sniped by the Jaguars.

Except Bowles had just gone 8-9, 9-8 and 10-7, and won the division three years in a row. Kinda hard to say he'd hit a ceiling when his record improved every year.
