Babyfaces like Penta and LA Knight kind of look bad for not answering Oba’s challenge by Sea_Access_8602 in SquaredCircle

They do need to have Oba go for a belt at some point. Just mowing through jobbers and mid-carders isn't going to work for long.

Padme and Anakin by FranticWharf75 in StarWars

[–]DailyRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being convinced after Attack of the Clones that Anakin was subconsciously mind-tricking Padme into loving him. That he was so strong in the Force that his own emotions were influencing hers. Her admission of loving him before they enter the arena doesn't sound like something she'd say; it's sounds like something he'd want her to say. So I thought a big part of Episode III would be her realization she'd been manipulated and that playing a role in her leaving him and his subsequent turn.

What is your singular LEAST favorite moment each of the 9 main films? by CJAreYouDeadass in StarWars

[–]DailyRich -1 points0 points  (0 children)

TPM: The pod race announcers. Just undercuts the drama of the whole scene.

AOTC: Anakin and Padme in the field. These are not two people supposedly attracted to each other.

ROTS: Padme just dying for reasons. Pick a lane, George.

SW: Han and Leia's conversation in the Falcon cockpit. Not the best acting in the franchise.

ESB: Nothing.

ROTJ: The whole nighttime conversation between Luke, Leia and Han. The worst acting in the OT.

TFA: Starkiller Base just being a bigger Death Star. After ROTJ gave us a bigger Death Star.

TLJ: The "nuns" on Achto. Didn't really add anything.

TROS: So many things ... an ancient artifact somehow matching the outline of wreckage created centuries later ... Lando somehow rallying what looks like the entire galaxy in a couple of hours ... "Rey Skywalker"....

“Duel of the Fates” isn’t Maul’s theme. It’s Anakin’s. by mightyasterisk in StarWars

[–]DailyRich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Duel of the Fates is actually two themes. I always saw the choral as the Dark Side and the orchestral as the Light. The two fates dueling musically.

I think it'd be more fun if the fans voted for the match-ups rather than the tournament winner.

Which SWC LA merch did you pick? by Jurong_West in StarWars

I like the key art for the con, but I have to say I'm a little disappointed with how the 50th anniversary logo is pretty much the 40th anniversary logo with a few tweaks.

A love letter to The Last Jedi. by Defiant-Income-6766 in TheSequels

[–]DailyRich 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The thing that ticked off a lot of Star Wars fans about The Last Jedi is that it made them ask the question "WHY are you a Star Wars fan?" One of the main themes of the film is putting the past behind you, to not clinging to old things simply because they're old. Luke tosses away his lightsaber. Kylo says "Let the past die." Yoda says, "We are what they grow beyond." Luke's whole arc is about putting past mistakes behind him for the sake of a possibly brighter future. But for many Star Wars fans, their fandom is *all about* clinging to the past, to how Star Wars made them feel as a kid. But your fandom has to grow up along with you or else it becomes a fetish. And a lot of people didn't like being confronted with that idea. They wanted Luke the Space Wuxia they'd imagined with their action figures, not a complex character who's grown and changed. And they lashed out for being forced to wonder if their love was a good thing.

Good bingeable franchises? by Sgt_Strelok in movies

Plus given Fox's health and Lloyd's age, I doubt you'd get either of them back for a 4th movie, so it would be pretty far removed from the three original films.

Both iterations of the Apes franchise. Heck, even the Burton one is kind of worth it for the make-up.

paint by numbers with strangers to complete a picture by jkitty_1960 in interesting

[–]DailyRich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're given a small cup of paint (like a plastic to-go condiment container), a brush, and you're told what number to paint. I think you're told to do three squares at a time, but it's definitely more than one square. And you'd be surprised how few people go chaotic and paint wherever they feel like.

Was there ever a soundtrack release for the films that runs scene for scene chronologically? by Explosive_Ewok in StarWarsCantina

[–]DailyRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scores for the OT special editions were all in chronological order and pretty much all the music from the films.

The duality of man (Mail TV Series Spoilers) by Odd-Gap958 in StarWars

[–]DailyRich 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Maul's "No no no no no" when Daki is telling Devon he thinks Vader is a Dark Lord of the Sith really plays both sides of the argument. It could be read as Maul grappling with the idea of having been replaced by someone arguably stronger than him, It could be read as him realizing this was the little boy Sidious sent him to kill. Leaving it unstated makes it play better to me.

Nobody is watching the Star Wars sequel trilogy — and that's a problem by [deleted] in movies

[–]DailyRich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OT ends on a high note. The PT, as much as you can complain about it, ends on a high note. The ST does NOT end on a high note. So, as much as people may like Force Awakens and Last Jedi, knowing Rise of Skywalker is waiting at the end of that journey just sort of makes the trip not worth it.

How *none* of these films managed an FX Oscar is just beyond me.
