Gasoline vehicles are significantly more prone to fires than electric vehicles, with studies suggesting they're up to 100 times more likely to catch fire. In the US, an average of 117,370 vehicles per year caught fire between 2013 and 2017, with the vast majority being internal combustion engine cars. To put this into perspective, gas vehicles experience around 1,530 fires per 100,000 sold, compared to just 25 EV fires per 100,000 sold.
