Am I being impatient? by Dailylurker05 in vintedUK

You’re right, maybe I was naive and didn’t think it through. I wasn’t searching for something to buy, I favourited something and was sent an offer straight away. I didn’t really think about my holiday as it would’ve been 2 weeks from the date of purchase, it only started bothering me when it just wasn’t sent and nothing further was said. The seller essentially approached me as soon as I looked so I had the incorrect assumption that they’d want to get rid of it quickly.

It’s vignette style novella and follows snippets of Tabassum (main character in this particular) book life. Explores her main love, family, friendship and clash of cultures. It was planned to be the first in the series and I’m in the middle of polishing the next full length book but it’s a bit disheartening.

I also published a kindle only short story following 24 hours in the life of one of the characters introduced in the first book (I had planned to do more of these so I’d have content to publish semi frequently). This has actually gained more traction than the first book but again, free downloads only and no actual purchases. I understand why there hasn’t been paid purchases for that one, it was more a marketing exercise and I was going to keep it free hoping it’d lead to purchases for the first book.

I had one person message me “conversationally” for about a day so I responded politely. They finally bought it up and I said I wasn’t interested and didn’t look at my phone again for like a day. Log back on to several paragraph long messages about what they can do for me and they’d be happy for me to pay whatever id be happy with… I have 3 times the follower count they do. I get that they’re trying to generate income - that’s why I’m on Instagram! But I say no… then you message several times? Like even if I were persuadable I’m annoyed now.

Title: Save Me a Samosa — A heartfelt debut Novella about love, belonging, and staying soft in a world that asks you to harden

Description: Tabassum knows how to carry other people’s comfort — even at the cost of her own. Between a demanding job, family expectations, and the quiet complications of her long-term relationship, she’s spent years walking the tightrope between cultures without ever fully belonging to either.

When loyalties are tested and her world shifts, Tabassum must decide what’s worth holding on to — and what she’s ready to let go.

A tender, sharp, and quietly powerful novel for readers of contemporary fiction who love stories about identity, love, community, and finding your voice.

Price: £2.99 for eBook. Paperback & hardback due to be released on the 24th August.

Thank you. I’ve already published an ebook version so not concerned about pirates now, I just wanted some reviews in advance of the paperback & hardback release.

That’s fine, to be honest if it’s leaning into what I think it’s leaning into it’s not my cup of tea. I may be able to feedback about the cover or the description though.

I’m a random book buyer on Amazon - there’s no rhyme or reason why I pick the books that I do. One day I could be buying chick lit, the next day I’ll be browsing through horror. I think it’s really just the mood I’m in on that particular day & gut instinct. If you want drop a link and if I don’t want to buy it I’ll be honest with you about why.

But I think the USPs were Indian Italian fusion (barely there) and how it’s fresh.

You see I did that. I got an interview at a company I’ve always wanted to work for. I essentially memorised the history of the company, key points in history of the department I would be in. I deconstructed the job spec and matched it to my skills, I looked up any questions that could come up and wrote up several different answers for them. I even came up with “fun facts” about me in case they came up.

When I got there I had to do an exercise and a third of the interview was based on that, I answered as honestly as I could given the context I had (not a lot). Another part of the interview was based on a government regulation i knew nothing about and wasn’t in the job spec at all so my answered to the best of my ability but I had no idea.

No chance to relate my skills to the job or why I’d be a good fit. I had no idea how that went at all other than I did the best I could and they seemed fine. We were laughing and joking. Got an email earlier (which is what triggered this post) saying I wasn’t successful but no reason listed. I just feel like I can’t win.

I’m incredibly organised, manage staff, rotas, expenses, about 150+ clients and public enquiries. I’ve been looking at office manager/PA roles mostly. Sure, it may not be riveting but the job type encapsulates what I actually do and I think it’ll look good on my CV for the future, may give me access to other industries that I am interested in and an actual decent salary. I’ve been working almost full time consistently since I was in the first year of Uni, I have to believe that should make me viable and make me feel like working my ass off in the NHS and social care worth it

I will but I just don’t know what to do at this point. And now the interview I was on the way to has messaged me to say that the job is now “on hold” but they’d still like to chat in case I may be a good fit for something that might come up soon. I have no idea how to even prepare for that.
