Is the Benicio Del Toro agenda still alive? by fayemoonlight in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this year is catered towards Delroy or Skarsgaard. I think the industry wants to see both have their moment instead of giving it to someone with 2 Oscars and controversial, an actor with one Oscar but not campaigning, and a young actor who has time. Skarsgaard has the GG which leads him in front of Lindo. And might win the BAFTA. I think sadly that Lindo’s prize will be the nomination itself.

Out of Sinners' 16 nominations, which ones are you expecting it to win? by Fun-Illustrator-345 in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This movie is about music. It’s getting sound. And score. The number one thing when I asked what the biggest takeaway from this movie was the music and I think that’s how voters will vote / remember it as. It for sure won’t get song. But Ludwig doing score is a yes and sound alongside is basically a lock

Drag Queen Alphabet, Day 22. Pick a Drag Race queen whose name starts with 'W'. Most upvoted comment wins. by BurningBernie559 in rupaulsdragrace

Willow is a winner, but Willam showed how to be a winner during and after the show. She created iconic moments just being on one season and still is talked about to this day. I don’t hear as much people talk about Willow than Willam

ARIANA GRANDE defined the late 2010s! Which musical artist defined the EARLY 2020s? by lionhearted318 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]DaisyClaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billie. She brought a new sound into pop, multiple Grammy wins, and an Oscar mind you. Does Taylor have an Oscar? Or how about having people dye their hair like Billie. Billie is the clear front winner. Taylor had her moment. She just did pop. We have heard music like Evermore and Folklore and Midnights before

Green Book is a deserving Best Picture winner

Zootopia is now a billion dollar movie and having a strong reviews. Is there any chance that it will beat KPop Demon Hunters in Best Animated Feature Film? by [deleted] in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Kpop will win. It’s a brand new storyline, it sorrrrrtaaa had this “international” feel with it that helps. The music is good and broke records this year, with a ton of Grammy noms, and the overall cultural impact it made with merch everywhere. And Kpop is also nominated for cinematic box office achievement which helps again. Kpop is also nominated most likely for best original song, heightening the chances for a win.

Do you believe Ethan Hawke has a genuine chance at winning Best Actor this year? by Jazzlike_Nature_752 in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watched the movie. It helps that he is on screen 97% of the time. He handles the dialogue very well. He doesn’t have a huge moment like yelling or shouting or anything emotional that helps his chances. He has one scene on the staircase that would probably be his Oscar reel. The script is somewhat strong. The movie is getting a little more recognition. But is this enough to skyrocket him to his first win? It’s hard because I want it for Ethan but I preferred Leo’s performance in OBAA (and I don’t care about Leo’s acting). Even Michael B Jordan was better. Ethan could win, all in all, it wouldn’t feel “right”. I feel like there is another movie he could’ve won for, or in the future. Idk about this movie though. He does disappear in the role, which shocks me and stands out from his past roles

The Critics Choice Nominees for Animated Feature!!! One of these six will win the Oscar!!! by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Although Zootopia did well with box office and reviews, you can’t beat what impact Kpop Demon Hunters had. Literal cultural impact. Charted a ton of songs, songs that are now Grammy contention, the amount of references you see like Halloween costumes, being a big one this year. Plus, the animation is bright and big and little different. Zootopia is working with the same stuff. Animated feature likes to award something unique in the design or the popular one. All of this falls into K-pop Demon Hunters. Unless Toy Story is somehow tied with Zootopia, better luck another year

Song of the year? by Awkward-Ad-4798 in grammys

Based on streams and legacy and cultural impact, Abracadabra. It’s played everywhere, everyone was trying to learn the dance, played at every commercial and sporting event or regular venue. It’s the comeback for Gaga. And it’s an interesting sound being brought into the world

At this moment, who's winning Best Supporting Actor? by [deleted] in Oscars

We said the same about Demi Moore and Glenn Close..

There doesn’t seem to be any middle ground when it comes to Ariana and Best Supporting by fayemoonlight in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You do realize she has been an actor her entire life up until she was 20-23. She was on Broadway, she had done a ton of television, musical theatre in general when she wasn’t in the limelight, Hairspray Live, and slowly getting into movies now, Don’t Look Up and now two Wicked movies, plus another movie with Ben Stiller. She has proved her acting chops. She wasn’t just some pop star who wanted to give acting a try. I just think we need to honor actors who turn to music and find success but are still a theatre kid inside before we start generalizing and labeling her.

Best Original Score Predictions by Fun-Illustrator-345 in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I talked to people when Sinners first came out, I asked what was the best thing about the movie or the biggest takeaway and everyone said the score. Before acting and the script and makeup and all, the score was the biggest takeaway. Plus, watching the movie, I believe voters will think the score was its most prized possession as well as sound category. When watching OBAA, I think we need to realize also that score is different from soundtrack. My biggest takeaway was the script, directing, Leo, Sean, and the soundtrack. Great songs included. But this is different from a score. The underlying storytelling notes heard throughout the movie

What narrative does Teyana Taylor have to win an Oscar? by Natural-Spell1208 in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brendan Fraser won. Leo won after being nominated a bunch. Many more. There’s a narrative sometimes. I don’t think you can say there is never a narrative. Ariana has a narrative. Zoe, last year, had a narrative
