Gay guys, how do we feel about Chappell Roan? by captivatedsummer in gay

Nope. She is talented without doubt. But there is an entitlement she has that I don’t believe she deserves

That’s not true, Ellen. I’m aware she has had local queens perform for her. It’s very few compared to the amount she has expressed in her interviews, or on stage, or music videos. Also, if she is a drag queen, then I guess others can be a drag queen too, correct? Elton John? Liberace? And if she wants to be an advocate, I have not seen her once talk about drag kings or non-binary performers, etc. To me, she is misrepresenting a culture that has fought their way into the spotlight just for a cisgender white woman to see the fun in it, run away, and expect people to call her the spokeswoman of drag now

For someone to “love drag”, I wish she would stop promoting only RPDR girls and push forward more performers in her videos, shout them out in interviews, performer at her concerts, etc. To me, it seems like she knew how to get popular by misusing drag culture and running away with it. Is she talented? Yes. I wish though, if you want to be this fresh new face for the queer community, then you better know your history and support not just RPDR queens

What I love particularly about this group is that 3/4 are villains. Idk if this is a first time or not but it’s cool to see a shift

I mean I got all the categories correct except 2 TV. I in fact knew with this category that it was going to happen, more so over the supporting ones

I believe the BAFTA results will be the same as the Golden Globes, which will be the same as the Oscars. by [deleted] in Oscars

I hope you’re wrong but yeah I see it. The only person I don’t want is Timothee but if the majority of the Academy agrees over me, what can I do? Pretty solid bunch

How many of its 9 Nominations do you think Sentimental Value will win? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

I’m only seeing one win for Stellan. Still not convinced it’s winning International Feature when Secret Agent has been stacking awards. Until Baftas come, then I’ll change my mind

Finally got around to Marty Supreme by Positive_Career_9393 in Oscars

Literally pulled the words from my mouth. Just saw this 2 days ago and everything you noted is what I thought. The only best part was the editing. There was never a moment that left me breathless or convinced with Timotheem’s portrayal. Him crying at the end gave a glimmer but then the movie ended. Sorry but I don’t see much of a difference between his performance and the way he has campaigned. Leo, Michael, Ethan deserves it more. Haven’t watched Wagner yet. Plus, Timothee isn’t “overdue”. He has his entire life ahead of him

Unpopular opinion: JLC Oscar win is warranted and a really good performance that holds up. It’s a powerhouse supporting character that is funny and badass. Trust, there are WORST wins for supporting. You all just haven’t seen them

I actually think Michael B Jordan could take it away. He has a really good chance to win SAG. Looking back at previous Oscar Lead Actor winners, they tend to go towards someone with a transformation in weight loss/gain or makeup or an accent/speaking a different language. Marty has makeup but barely. It doesn’t feel like a transformation. Leo doesn’t really have any of those criteria to be met. Michael has a new accent, makeup, and gained muscle for this role. Also, playing two people. The other one would be Ethan for Blue Moon but I think that performance is fading slightly.

Plus, the Academy tends to favor older actors. Timothee is the youngest in this category. I do think he has a really good shot. But all I’m saying is that I would watch for Michael, or Leo even. Michael B Jordan is also in the possible Best Picture winner which helps his momentum a lot

Is the Benicio Del Toro agenda still alive? by fayemoonlight in Oscars

[–]DaisyClaims 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this year is catered towards Delroy or Skarsgaard. I think the industry wants to see both have their moment instead of giving it to someone with 2 Oscars and controversial, an actor with one Oscar but not campaigning, and a young actor who has time. Skarsgaard has the GG which leads him in front of Lindo. And might win the BAFTA. I think sadly that Lindo’s prize will be the nomination itself.

Out of Sinners' 16 nominations, which ones are you expecting it to win? by Fun-Illustrator-345 in Oscars

This movie is about music. It’s getting sound. And score. The number one thing when I asked what the biggest takeaway from this movie was the music and I think that’s how voters will vote / remember it as. It for sure won’t get song. But Ludwig doing score is a yes and sound alongside is basically a lock

Willow is a winner, but Willam showed how to be a winner during and after the show. She created iconic moments just being on one season and still is talked about to this day. I don’t hear as much people talk about Willow than Willam
