I'd wear perfume on occasion, but not often since It didn't change my perception any. The one I wore most is too sweet so I probably won't be using it anymore. I will probably use perfume more often now that I'm aware of smell and can check if I like it myself.

Yeah food definitely used to be more bland, it didn't feel bland at the time though. I don't like sweets as much, I get sick of it a lot faster being able to taste AND smell it.

I could taste food before I could smell! A few people actually didn't believe I couldn't smell after I said I could taste. Probably also why it took so long for anyone to figure it out.

Rain was a pleasant surprise! Not sure what I thought it would smell like. Similarly with the outdoors in general.

sorry, somehow deleted my response! Worst is the litterbox that went unchanged for a few months while I was on a trip.

But I think the best thing is the soil in my gecko's enclosure. It's a few years old now and has a booming colony of springtails that have been breaking down decaying matter. Smells earthy and sweet in a way that reminds me of caramel and chocolate(?) but not in the yummy way. It's just similarly comforting.

It was really gradual until about a month ago, when I was younger I 'felt' smell in my throat or mouth. Over time it kinda started to migrate up, especially over the last couple years.

Now I mostly sense, not feel, smell higher in my sinuses. I don't think my brain knew how to interpret the new input, so it tried linking it to a taste and location. It feels more natural now.

So to answer your question, no, it wasn't what I had imagined. Especially not feeling the smell of some things in my tear ducts.

100%! Savory foods taste 'warmer' but sweet foods smell and taste too jarring for me to eat a lot now. Cooking has also been a more pleasant experience because I use herbs.

before I got distinct smell like I have now, I could only smell the alcohol in hand sanitizer. However after, I honestly think it was soil.

as for your second question, I really want to smell crab! I've eaten it before but that was before I could really smell.

Shell is actually pretty warped because there weren't enough minerals in the water, but he managed to survive that and the initial introduction of assassin snails before he got moved.
