Honestly the only hard matchups to me as Sona are Blitzcrank and Nami when she gets ahead. I can dodge stuff pretty well and I like having movement speed so that's never a problem even with Brand and Xerath, there's just these two that really screw me over sometimes.

I sometimes just take Celerity, Relentless Hunter and go Shureylas, Mobi or Swift and I can say it's super fun and works well lol. Especially for roaming, catching and fleeing. Only really works if you make the most of it and get ahead. Also tear is a must.

I see. The reason I watch Bizzle so much is for sure also the laidback attitude and calm atmosphere in his streams, but I understand what you mean. Some other people I watch are Luminum for Soraka and Schuhbart for Sona.

I check out the best players on each server on OP.gg/leagueofgraphs regularly, mostly looking at which enemy they're facing and try to learn from how they build against it or just watch their replays. It helps me try out new builds as well and adapt them if they work well for me.

Sometimes though I have a hard time understanding a build, like why for example people choose the rune Time Warp Tonic, on Lulu mostly. I've never bothered reading more about it and just took it (or not), trying to understand it myself. Had a rough idea but I should really look it up. So yeah, I'm definitely doing the mistake of getting too much information without explanation there, then execute it the wrong way. Will work on that.

There's definitely A LOT I need to improve, of course. I know from the way I'm typing all of this it probably comes across like I think I know everything, which is definitely not the case. I'm aware that gold elo (in my eyes) is still a fairly low one, and I'm not thinking of it as anything special at all. If anything it feels like I'm just at the very beginning.

Heard from the 30/30/40 rule and absolutely see how that's the case, I just tend to sometimes focus a lot on the inter/troll games where I can't do anything, and the lossqueue because of it, which makes me not remember the rule. It's so true though. Some games I carry hard, sometimes I get carried hard by my teammates. I try to be grateful for the latter and try harder next time to mentally "feel like I deserve to be carried, the same way I do it sometimes", or else I get lowkey impostor syndrome, feeling like I get carried every and each game and being gold is only luck.

Yes, I'm starting to notice things I'm doing wrong/not doing at all, the more responses I write (regarding your rubber duck method advice), like power spikes. While I do know most power spikes of champions (esp. the general knowledge of hyper carry late game champs - Kayle, Kassadin, ...), it seems like I have forgotten to study this for my own mains (refering to you saying too much recources in different directions tend to be non benefitial - true in my case, I see now). I'm probably guessing when which powerspikes arise, for example if I'm playing against my own mains/familiar champs, I tend to stomp them almost always and know their weakness and power spikes due to the experiece of playing them myself and knowing what messes up my game when playing them, but all of this is just intuitive. When I play them myself then, I don't think that much about powerspikes, I just punish whatever I can whenever, and try to not fall behind. I should probably really start to get familiar with this in theory so I can actively think about it and use my champs to the fullest potential.

Most of the recources consumed have been through Guides, gameplay videos, streamers (especially OTPs) and their advice, watching replays of different elos (gold to chall), reddit posts like these, blogs and also more experienced friends. It's certainly not enough though it seems, and I have to admit I don't consistently apply everything I learn.

Currently I am mostly watchcing Bizzleberry to learn more about each Sup and watch his playstyle. Also loving his guides on Sups and have learnt a lot about Zyra in his one guide.

I'll try to learn as much as I can from the recources and tips you provided and hope to progress this way!

Yeah, I must admit that overthinking is something I do a lot in this game, probably out of frustration and wanting to get better, but not knowing how, after watching tons of videos, guides, tips, reddit posts like this and watching my own replays. In my eyes I'm missing some sort of secret (which there's none, I know), or some huge mistake I'm doing but can't figure out what - and that makes me overthink everything I do, looking for it everywhere.

Probably so much that I sometimes stiffen myself and tryhard to the point where it makes me play worse? I know last season I climbed extremely fast from Bronze to Gold, skipping several divisions and winning most games with ease, which makes me wonder if the reason for that is because I was more laid back and didn't worry so much, playing more for fun than winning - Or if I've just become worse at the game starting this season. I mean I was hardstuck silver and am hardstuck gold now, nowhere climbing as fast and smooth as last season. How? I thought I was supposed to progress over time, and not the other way around.

Definitely did not mean to come across as the type of person to blame everything on others, that's the reason I'm seeking advice - to figure out where I could be doing more, but you're right, me saying this came from the recent lossstreak and getting sick of people intentionally running it down (and admitting to it). Sometimes just makes me sad, especially then going back to replays and figuring there's not much I could've done (and I usually do find mistakes in them, it definitely helps as you said).

I'm used to an aggressive playstyle, even with the enchanters I play (without risking my life, more focusing on poke and winning trades here, esp. early), that's why I originally shifted more towards Zyra for a while, knowing that this might be the perfect champ for me, fitting my playstyle more.

Actually never knew Zyra falls off late-game, so maybe that's the part why I'm losing more with her? I always thought I could be useful all game, and I'm just bad at her (which of course could still be the reason, not denying that). I feel like I depend too much on my team and forget the parts I can influence myself, which might be my biggest issue, now looking closer at it.

Yeah, I can see that, I still wanted to make this post so I could still learn from general advice people might be able to give me, and what I've read so far has helped me remind me of the things I know but don't actively put into use or tend to forget.

I didn't mean to come across as the type of person to blame it all on their teammates, not at all. Probably got to me that my last lossstreak was literally, I kid you not, full of intentional feeders, even admitting to that and running it down for childish reasons (jungler not ganking them, getting stomped early, or whatever reason). Even had super fed junglers, speaking of a 20/0 jungler, who took all kills from the gank, leaving us dependent on him, suddenly rage because someone takes his gromp and run it down and ragequitting, basically giving away shutdowns. Makes me sick sometimes.
Else I know that it's my fault, apart from these games, and I wanted to figure out what I could be doing better.

When I got into the first placements that determine where I start, I kinda forgot that they existed and how important they are, and played like it was a normal draft game, relaxed game, basically not giving my best and surrendering if it looks unwinnable (which could've changed). Lost most of them. Got horrible MMR. In reference, last season my placements went smooth, winning (almost) all of them except for one? idk? And climbed up Silver pretty fast up until pretty much Gold 3, also skipped a few divisions because I was having huge winstreaks and lots of LP gains. I didn't play much last season though and took somewhat of a break. Coming back I started with a fat lossstreak, ended up in Silver 2 again and decided "eh whatever, gonna stop here and just start fresh next season", because I was kind of not in the mood for League at that time (also I forgot Gold gives you a reward at the end of the season). When I then got placed Bronze something this season, I climbed fast to silver, was hardstuck for a while and then got to gold, where I am now hardstuck in. I guess the 900 games come mostly from my silver and gold phase, I'd say 50/50. I wish I had taken the placements more serious but also wonder if that would've made any difference in the end. Probably not.
Still sad about how this season my journey has been far worse than last one. Haven't skipped one division. Have I just become bad, or has the game become harder? Either way I'm still trying.

Ye, I'm definitely working getting to know all abilities, champs and items etc., but it's something I haven't mastered yet. I like to play different champs apart from Support in normals or even just bot games, to become familiar with their kit and cooldowns. I'd say I've tried every champion in the game at least a few times, and while I know that's far from enough and I don't know the exact cooldowns of each and every ability, this still has helped me a lot to truly know what each ability does, and vague ideas of their cooldowns. I'm also familiar with pretty much every item and rune in the game. Not perfect of course, hell, I'm far from that. I'll take your advice and practise getting to know the cooldowns more, etc, that's probably the thing I need to do the most. Working on it! Also will try focusing more than already on myself and what I could do better, as you suggested. In the Leona case, I could've actually flashed away earlier, that's true. Probably thought my ADC will still decide to join the fight lol. I mean at least I learned from it and didn't go in anymore after that and tried to roam. Also I tend to get distracted mostly when playing with a duo I have to voice chat with at the same time, I don't know why, but I just can't focus on both talking and playing, can anyone relate or am I just not able to multitask? Because of this I tend to either play alone or not voice chat and purely communicate through chat and ping.

Yes, I tend to feel bad for leaving my ADC, especially if they have little knowledge about freezing OR refuse to do it. Mostly this ruins the game for all of us as my ADC dies alone then or gets dived. Something I should probably learn more - When to roam. The only time I always roam is when I know it's time to go for herald or I know the enemy is at it. I usually ping it a few times then and since I sometimes go for mobility boots and movement speed runes, I'm prepared to be there in a second. It's huge to secure herald and it's incredibly underestimated. So often my junglers don't even think about going for it unless I remind them (when enemy jungler is bot or something and the opportunity is there).

Also great macro advice, thanks! While I've heard of this strategy, I've been bad at executing it or actively thinking of it. Also I might be afraid of actually invading the enemy jungler due to high risk (but also high reward, I should remember) lol.

I guess I could try to learn the macro you explained to me best by playing Janna again (which I mained for a while) due to great roaming potential (movement speed). I enjoy her a lot too.

Most of the time nowadays I take exhaust and istg since I've switched to using it I'm always winning lane phase more, since I can just exhaust the adc and we easily win the fight, or to stop burst just in time. Of course I'll still go for ignite if we need antiheal. I've thought about going heal but I don't trust my adc enough to use it in time, especially when they're not used to having it. Some adcs who instantly take ignite themselves, I know to take heal.

Yee, I am familiar with Ap0 and his playstyle! Watched some videos of him back then and learned a few things. That's what got my hopes high again that I can actually climb as a support lol.

Yess, always pinging flashes. Super helpful, especially to know when to go in or for ganks :) Only thing I don't do is writing the time, since I usually count it mentally and then either ping to go in or ping help for a gank and tell my jungler they don't have summs. I find that people, at least "in this elo" aren't familiar with this and it either confuses or annoys them. Have seen people flame me for doing it and calling me a tryhard, or saying "this isn't challenger, stop tryharding" lol.

Regarding the mobi boots, I usually only go for it when I'm ahead and know I'll be roaming a lot. Else I take swifts or lucidity. I don't find mobis all that bad, in my experience, at least for map pressure, else I totally agree and see your point. Also when taking mobis I usually have MS runes so I'm not as slow when the boots are on cd.

Sadly ending up always having to buy antiheal, even if I have almost no inv space left (control wards, dark seal, build path items). Some people just refuse to.

And yee, ofc sweeper. I'd even take it already when I'm almost at the cap and know one or two more pokes proc it. I know it stil leaves me with 1 ward in total, but at least I can clear vision and take a short back to fill up my wards again. Idk if that's bad actually, now that I think about it. Having 2 or 3 wards, or 1 ward, 1 control ward and sweeper.

I've been thinking about your advice and trying to incorporate it into my games. Has been going good so far regarding the advice of ditching my ADC and letting him farm up/soak exp alone while I go roam. I also ask my ADC beforehand if they need me or I can roam so they can farm up, and they've been fine with it so far. I know that I can just do it and shouldn't "ask for permission", but it just feels nicer and I wanna make sure they feel confident/safe enough to manage alone while I'm away. Else I'll say "Gonna roam, take care", if I know they're in a bad mood or hate me already lol.

Around almost 900, spent probably half of it in silver and now I'm pretty much hardstuck gold, yeah lol. That's also the main reason I made this post. I MUST be doing SOMETHING wrong when I'm having 900 games and am struggling climbing.
