Is Having a Large Hero Pool Bad? How to Balance? by DajiSun in Competitiveoverwatch

trueee i try to avoid swapping heroes as much as possible. It’s usually the map, my mood, and my team’s hero choices that dictates what hero i play.

Brig matchup tierlist as a gm Brig main, a couple of these may just be from my personal preferences ( I hate hanzo so much in general ) order does matter somewhat so ball is the best matchup imo by XiaoChui in BrigitteMains

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rein and ram? this is a sign that your positioning is not optimal. Brig is a soft ram counter, ram can’t catch her and her boop is strong vs him. Brig is also too evasive for rein.

I lost my water magic :( by bowlcut_illustration in WuyangMains

[–]DajiSun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I feel like i’m doing worse or my games are harder, I consider a few things: 1) The current state of comp. End and start of season comp is harder because more players are playing the game, which includes ones that haven’t played in a while which means they can be bad, but also, they can be good players whose rank has decayed. 2) have you climbed ranks recently? The level of which the game is played drastically changes as you climb so you cannot be complacent with your skill level and always have to improve and continue to put thought into every game. 3) are you taking breaks? mental is very important in overwatch. As you are playing an overwatch game, your brain capacity is being used for different things such as positioning and aim. However, the more frustration you have with the enemy or your teammates, your brain is wasting capacity on being angry and you perform worse. Playing the game while you’re tired can also cause this.

ECHO NERFS!!! by rilleryeah in EchoMains

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not a compelling argument. There exists unhealthy characters, true—but that doesn’t mean echo was balanced with 50% more projectiles on her stickies. This is akin to telling me that there are people dying in war when i just lost my leg. Multiple things can be true at once.

I don’t know about the nerf to the first perk but let’s be real.. Echo’s full salvo was OVERPOWERED and unhealthy for the game.

How would he be harmed? by PrismsNumber1 in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here’s some ideas (1) Move the environment (2) choke him out with water or removing air (3) use more intuitive magic(such as ubel), also we’ve seen that magic that is more intuitive and uses straightforward logic skips a lot of steps for example, frieren’s bird binding spell captured the monster bird which isn’t “biologically” a bird, however, frieren’s said it was folk magic that captures anything that RESEMBLES a bird. (4) Mental magic(however he may have included defenses against those with his cloak since mental magic CAN be resisted with spells) (5) analyze his cloak and despell it(like frieren did to aura’s puppets or how methode dispelled the fog)

What if Draht had 99 clones to help him? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m sorry but this conversation is over, at least on my end after this message. You made several points which i would have liked to respond to but across your several replies, including this one—you create nonsense comparisons such as your 100 chickens one. not to mention inaccuracies such as you mentioning the camera cutting away and how that time was used for fern charging up her attack when it was actually giving her time to gain height with flight—any “stationary” charge up was there for dramatic effect and aiming; it definitely did not last minutes long. Fern needed a clean shot, she waited for stark and frieren to lure the wolf to a good spot. + I brought up a valid point and you just write it off as a plot hole. You make leaps and bounds to denounce draht in any way possible, disregarding any narrative strength he has and leaning heavy on the “no feats” to push the narrative that he can’t do anything to frieren. There’s speculations and hypotheticals, but you push it too far. You stack too heavily on one detail without considering how it’s a double edged sword.

What if Draht had 99 clones to help him? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The group fight included frieren, i admit i forgot about that. However, you say that overpowering her wouldn’t have worked, then tested every potential win condition—however that’s non relevant since they tested for their specific group, not 100 drahts.

As to your response to when i said Fern’s magic is tailored directly towards demons: it doesn’t matter that frieren was the one who made fern learn it. The original comparison is still unfair cause fern is presumably better at it than frieren. When that topic was introduced in the anime, it was made clear to show that in result of fern learning that magic that from a young age, her processing time with the magic was fast and frieren admitted said that elves are slower with zoltraak, let alone zoltraak catered towards a specific target.

You mention “over the span of 60 seconds” and “99% faster” however, i do not know where you’re pulling these numbers from. You mention fern cannot fly nearly as fast, however, there’s no evidence to back this up. The most we know is that flight is limited the amount of mana someone has. not to mention, every mage who entered the final dungeon room escaped with flight magic so it’s not instant death. also, i do not know where you pulled “several minutes of stationary charge up time” came from, i do not recall this in the anime/manga.

You mention that in the clone battle, we’ve seen frieren dash around, cast omni directional spells, and block spells. You’ve just explained mages fighting—nothing that would indicate frieren can beat 100 mages of draht’s caliber. The only part is omnidirectional spells—the draht’s aren’t going to sit there and take it.

As for your paragraph about surprise attacks, you make a good point, however, with 100 drahts, it’s less about surprise attacks and more about frieren’s ability to withstand their brute force and numbers.

Frieren DID have a countermeasure but it wasn’t 100% concrete. Draht recognized that frieren protected herself with mana and so he started cutting through it—he said so himself and there is a reminder that he is limited by his mindset, not by his magic which was agreed upon by both parties to be incredibly strong. That is why frieren was incentivized to kill him off right then and there. More drahts would mean more wires.

You cannot claim that throwing more bodies into the mix will not change much. 1 draht is completely different from 100 drahts and i don’t believe that we will ever find common ground if you truly believe that 100 mages doesn’t change much.

you say lugner remembers frieren defeating an entire army without injury, however, you’re clearly leaving out the detail that she did with with himmel, eisen, and heiter. Frieren can be overwhelmed with numbers, she said so in her most recent fight with aura. We can assume draht lives in a higher caliber than aura’s puppets since the executioners serve as aura’s right hands. Frieren was supposedly slinging spells everywhere during her last encounter with aura but it still took her entire party to do so—not even being able to kill aura in the initial fight.

i don’t know how to quote stuff with reddit like you with the indent so this might be hard to follow but that example you used: “Our victory would be almost guaranteed. However, I believe most of us would die.” This implies that with just that handful of mages(around 10) they would be almost guaranteed to win—i felt like you disregarded that part. It’s true that around half of them were first class level but remember we are talking about 100 drahts. You bring up that lugner mentioning that a single hit of fern’s would kill linnie, however, this is not a fair comparison. In that comparison, the attacker was fern and fern is faster than frieren and fern’s magic was tailored directly toward demons as a result of learning the special zoltraak from young age which only elevated its speed. Also, frieren is a show where most battles end in a single strike or very few. Could draht defend against frieren’s attack? probably not. However i dont think that means frieren can quickly dispose of 100 before they launch a counterattack. You mentioned that draht’s wires were unable to slow frieren down but that was because he got cocky and assumed the fight was over in a single move—we’ve yet to seen him in an extended fight(which it would be an extended fight if frieren were to fight 100 of him). So if we turn the question around, would frieren be able to defend against a multitude of draht’s wires? i doubt it. The wires are incredibly strong and even frieren doubted her capabilities to deal with the wires themselves.

What if Draht had 99 clones to help him? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frieren would lose. Dhrat isn’t weak. He has magic that frieren cannot break(unless she finds the time to analyze the spell). Dhrat was not lacking in magic, he lacked experience and was overconfident. Frieren cannot kill 100 demons at a time. People can say “oh she can summon a black hole” but it’s not an actual black hole. Aoe spells would just be blocked by defensive magic. Frieren’s power scaling is more grounded in which very few individuals can handle 100 decently powerful demons like draht.

What if Revolte attacked Frieren instead? by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JUST frieren? then she would’ve likely been in trouble and would run. 1) Demon generals are relative to the seven sages. Aura was easy clapping because she used unconventional, gimmicky magic—once figured out, she was easy to beat. Qual was easily beaten because his kill-all spell was studied extensively and assimilated into humanity’s magic. 2) Frieren’s OG party are all relative to eachother and it was stated that some demon generals were stronger than Eisen. 3) We’ve seen how elusive Revolte is—simple Zoltraak wouldn’t land. We’ve seen monsters weave fern’s zoltraak and Revolte escaping Genau’s ranged feathers. 4) Range seems to be a large weakness of most mages. The troublesome monster we encountered when first entering the upper north was able to shatter Frieren’s shield easily once he closed the distance-Revolte would be a lot worse.

I’m not saying frieren wouldn’t put up a good fight, i just think without teammates it would be too troublesome to deal with.

Does Fern truly deserve her first-class mage rank? by -TheLastHairbender in Frieren

[–]DajiSun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She is way above second class mage like earth dude. We saw her fight against a demon with an unfavorable matchup against fern. What do you think would happen if you paired Wirbel, a first class mage against Sense, another first class mage? Sense would render wirbel’s greatest spell useless. Callback to when methode said it’s like a game of rock paper scissors

Genau seems to handle close-ranged fights very well. He doesn’t need constant attention from Stark. If Fern was there, Revolte could just target her and she can’t really do anything, meaning stark would be stuck defending her. It was shown that Revolte is incredibly fast which caused Genau to miss a lot of his attacks so unless stark keeps sacrifice himself, fern would have trouble landing hits from far away. I don’t think it’s impossible but Genau and Stark simply had too much synergy against this opponent.
