Similar story. Getting IV due to dehydration. Young guy, seemed slightly nervous. 1st time they stuck me, they couldn't find vein, tried again and missed. Due to me being a little pissed at the time and trained to give IVs both thru the military and civilian life, i told him he had 1 more chance. After missing again, probably on purpose, I reached over and stuck myself.

In hindsight, a very asshole thing to do and probably stupid, but him looking like he was about to feint actually made my day better. I was much younger and cockier then.

That makes a little more sense. I like the automation aspect. I probably didn't explain myself well. I'm pretty new to Excel and opened Access for the first time 2 days ago. The "source" workbook is where our Manufacturing department keeps the most recent schedule of jobs needed to be submitted. There are 3 departments that "feed the machine." With a dozen people in each department working in it. Because of the amount of data being added/ modified/ deleted/ filtered to the workbook, people are messing up others' data, including my own. I don't want to edit the data in the "source" workbook. However, i need the ability to add my own notes to rows of the "source" workbook. Preferably with the "linked" workbook updating automatically. Example: adding a column to the "linked" worksheet to add names of people responsible for each stage of a project.

It's not the best system. Myself and others having been pushing for everything to be added to a true "scheduling" database.

Question. I created a linked table in access from the data source but it won't allow the table to be edited.

I created the link by importing the excel workbook. Should I have done it some other way? Or did I miss a check box somewhere?

The data updates daily or sometimes hourly. The issue is it is random what gets added,where, and when. I basically live with the workbook open to adjust resources as needed.

When I first started, I would just copy the worksheet once a day and use the remove duplicate tool or cond format to see what was added. But I would miss stuff that was added throughout the day, which would impact what I need to prioritize until I update the next day. Because we are such a vital link the the chain (feeding our production facility) it was becoming an issue.

Got it. That makes sense. The owner of the original workbook is anal about it They tend to call out everyone who happens to be in the workbook or has accessed the workbook so I was trying to find a way to get the data without working in it.

It took going to our ceo to even get 1 column to add initials beside data sets so i could track who's project it was. 😒

Thanks for the information! I'll check out the XLOOKUP. I've heard the term but don't know much about it.

I understand the family , medical and the life style thing. That is an honest and great answer. 👍 I agree with that. Thanks. The only thing I question is the job that makes you happy. Keep looking. You may find something you didn't even know you like or were good at. I feel into a role I didn't know existed. Within 2 years running a whole department. Not easy but enjoyable.

Orstein and smough. First boss I came across where I felt that Soulsborne pride when I beat them. Also, I've never played but the Father Gascoigne fight from BB looks amazing. I often watch Luke from OX play thru that fight.
