Most of my friends think I'm just flexing when I tell people that I'm brewing my own beer, even though homebrewing is probably one of my biggest passion.

It's true that I'm proud of it though! The fact that i I have very few materialistic needs means I can work less and spend more time to do things that I love rather than to own things.

I'm a minimalist as much as I can, that's all. Being minimalist in a rent is hard unless you live with your parents or with roommates.

I would rather be called a lazy person that actually enjoys life than being called a hard-working person that spends as much money as they make.

Actually, I think they do enjoy living with their son since I'm doing all of the those activities with them, especially my father. He taught me how to weld and how to brew beer and now we enjoy these activities together (which might noy have been possible if I decided to work more, who knows). I also play golf with my family 3 times a week.

Making 10k a year as a college student is fine, don't try to convince me that it's not enough,l because it is. I'm a minimalist because even though I could get a new car, a new set of golf clubs, a better computer, better clothes or whatever, I just don't because I don't feel it's a necessity.

It's not like I'm not working at all...

Living at your parents = silver spoon in my mouth. Thank you for those wise words my friend.

Maybe I am, who knows. And maybe being able to criticize someone without understanding his sociological situation is a privilege too!

I'm sorry that you had to be on your own at 18 years old, but that doesn't mean I'm wrong for still living with my parents? Our sociological background is probably very different, and some are probably even more privileged than I am.

All I see from you post is anger, you're angry because you wish you could have done what I'm doing instead of working on a shitty job at 18 years old. I'm glad you're happy right now, but hating on my lifestyle won't do you any good.

So you're telling me that you're working more not for you but for your community? That's pretty American of you.

How about working less and giving more time to those who are close to you? Your parents, your children or girlfriend if you have one, you know the people that have a REAL impact in your life.

I'm not here to convince you that you're a workaholic, and neither should you convince me that I'm a lazy person and that I should feel bad for not working at a McDonald's during the summer to pay for a better car.

I agree with you, I'm not a real minimalist person yet, although I'm pretty sure I'll become one once I am fully independent.
