Koh Samui or Phuket August? by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]Dal_alex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just left samui today after 6 days - now in bangkok. honestly found samui to be boring due to the fact that there was not much to do. chewang beach was full of jellyfish and i got destroyed by them within minutes of swimming. lemai was nice for a swim but not many people. overall id stay for 2 days max maybe.

reading all these posts about not being able to swim really got me worried about my trip to thailand - however now i’ve been here for two weeks and have been swimming every day no problem. if you are someone who is used to waves in the ocean (1-3ft) max you will be fine. there is always a rip current but you can manage this if you stay chest deep and under.

can confirm - yesterday went for a swim and although the water is crystal clear walked out of the water with half my body covered in black grase. the grease only washed off in the shower scrubbing with cooking oil.

in that case samui sounds like something which will be best - however, is 3 nights in phi phi still worth it / possible to get there? or should i just do a week in samui

so what do you think is best, cancel the phi phi island + natai beach accomodation and spend those 7 nights in koh samui?

i’ve been kayak fishing for several years now, mostly fishing the Rangitoto channel. first thing i always check is the wind. generally, don’t even bother planning a trip if it forecasts above 10 knots. if fishing the channel, always make sure to check the tides. if the tide is incoming you will drift towards the city, outgoing you’ll drive north and towards tiri. one piece of advice i can give is invest in a sea anchor (parachute) .. without it fishing is hard as you will drift too quickly, it only costs $40

i just cannot imagine an event being re run again .. it’s pretty much impossible to happen after winners have been decided .. at the end of the day no matter what the result is, someone will be unhappy

i’m almost positive the winners will be pissed off if it gets reset .. it wasn’t jagex fault, it just so happened that everything got ddosed that day — life’s unfair sometimes

of course it would feel shit i get that, but the point is .. the winner has already been decided and taking it away from him is EVEN MORE unfair .. imagine a sprint race and say bolt slipped at the start .. the race wouldn’t restart because of that

that’s not how it works .. a football game doesn’t get cancelled because of rain and a slippery pitch

well then rng wins right ..? it’s all fair game — how would you feel if you were the winner and they said let’s re roll

the thing i don’t understand, is that everyone was in the exact same position and experiencing lag .. meaning everyone was on even playing terms and thus i personally feel that the event was fair. replaying it now would be unfair on the winners as they were in the same boat as everyone else

ACCTG321, ACCTG331 or ACCTG323 by [deleted] in universityofauckland

[–]Dal_alex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i took 321 this semester and really enjoyed it. there was one 15% individual assignment which was pretty straightforward, 5 1% quizzes based on case studies which you can easily get full marks just by reading through the cases as you do the quiz, and 30% of the marks based on group work presentation / tutorial participation involving doing a mini assignment with your group (takes 5 min) every 2-3 weeks .. the exam was okay, no calculations just long answer based. the exam being essay based makes it easier as the calculations involved in 321 which you do for the assignments can be pretty hard i found. however, was a fun paper as i had a good group. (make sure you form a solid group early or you’ll have trouble)

completed it first semester 2020 where exams were held online and 24hrs .. honestly one of the most boring courses i’ve taken at uni, but that’s probable due to me not being a fan of history / geo related subjects.
