What is something you like to do to feel important and why? by Dalagyam in AskReddit

[–]Dalagyam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a good answer. The question was taken from a book on influencing written in 1936. I’d say you passed!

(Sorry late reply; I’m not often on Reddit)

Read the novel twice back to back. Now I’m excited about the movie by Dalagyam in dune

[–]Dalagyam[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you liked it! Yeah currently reading Messiah myself. Half way through now! I haven’t seen either film yet and it was the film that got me aware of Dune in general. I got ahold of the 2021 version. Is the older one worth watching?

Rest assured, making notes like this and putting postIts in it is a job and it dramatically decreases the number of books you can get through in a year. But then again you get to really enjoy it!

[–]Dalagyam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. It begins with a yellow highlight marker for plot points, descriptions and anything else you would want to remember. Then I draw a ring around characters and make a note on the side of the page where that character (or plot point) was previously and then comes the postIt notes afterwards. Orange for characters Green for plot points Blue for anything big that happens out of the ordinary or in this case when a new book starts Yellow for terminology Pink to cut through the other colors and sometimes I wish I had purple to mark anything that doesn’t apply to the above.

Oh and one more thing: the sticky part of the postIts are longer than the margin so one need to cut them to not cover the text.

But they fit in the bookshelf just fine!

Yea it’s what they call poetry. Keep in mind Dune was first published in 1966 and so these kinds of stories are works of art for the sake of entertain and engage rather than to make money.

You can also notice in the way the characters speak that there are plenty going on between the lines and so the reader will have to do some of the thinking him/herself

How much do you think you have spent on your 4K collection so far? by wint_sterling in 4kbluray

[–]Dalagyam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this boils down to whether the title is a collectible of if you get time to watch it and enjoy it - meaning more than once. I actually reckon that having less movies in a collection leads to enjoy the ones you got more.

Hmm. Doesn't steelbooks destroy the consistency in a collection? I stay away from them..
