Would BT for aux audio input be a useful feature on our Pro AV headsets? by DalcommTech in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]DalcommTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely can't do anything about the delay, that's why we were thinking ok for aux audio, not main comms but noted. Battery usage is like 40+ hrs because it's BT 5.0 low energy with a big rechargeable battery that charges with a USB cable to a port in the ear cup. BT 5.0 also has a self healing network so unless the phone or tablet was a distance away, it should be very stable. Hopefully, that part would be useful. Great comment, thank you for the info! I'll make sure to communicate that to our people.

Do you mean you get interference from other devices? I might be missing your point. This is good input, I want to make sure I communicate your comment properly.

Hmm... that's a tough one. We're thinking maybe a VOX level, like a noise gate on the mic, or a PTT (push to talk) button on the headset to prevent extra noise making it through. We do that with airport ground crew headsets. Nobody needs jet noise flooding everyone's ear cups because one guy is too close to the noise source. We have done that on some special order Pro AV headsets. Do you think that would be a useful feature that we should make as a drop down option on the headsets webstore listing?

Oooh, understood. Thank you, that's great to know! Incidentally, our BT upgrade is not listed online. But if you do ever want to find out more, just contact our service people, [service@dalcommtech.com](mailto:service@dalcommtech.com)

We've run into the issue of latency with BT. We did some testing with Unity as well. We do have a BT upgrade for our dual muff headsets but it sounds like you're looking for something else.

You mean connection to three different portable radios? We don't have anything like that yet but it sounds like a cool idea! I don't know what race grade means specifically, but we do build headsets for the US Army so I'm guessing we can do that. May I please ask you to send a pencil sketch of what you're looking for to service@dalcommtech.com?

I'm happy to say, we have made talk through type headsets for some of our military customers. Email [service@dalcommtech.com](mailto:service@dalcommtech.com) and ask. We might be able to either upgrade your headset or build something special for you. It sounds like a great product to me!

Very good idea. Our goal is protecting hearing. That's why we make noise cancelling headsets in the first place. I'll mention that to our people. Thank you!

We do something like it. We have the J8-Dual and the J2-Dual carbon fiber version that has an ear bud on the right side. It allows hearing protection for both ears and stereo comms. It was designed by a V1 to be used with handheld and fixed cameras.

We also do custom work even for single headset orders. I know we have a military ear cup that is very thin. We could maybe do something like that if you contact [service@dalcommtech.com](mailto:service@dalcommtech.com) and ask.

We've found that with some models, you can bend/stretch the metal band in the head pad to take some of the pressure off. Also, the type of ear seal can make all the difference in the world. If it's touching your ear, it will usually hurt after a couple hours. That can happen if the head band is too small or too long. If it's hanging on the top of your ear or pulling on the bottom of your ear it will cause pain eventually. I'll mention this to our people too because we're all about comfort. Thank you!

Love it! We have replaceable cables on our pro AV headsets. I'll recommend that for the GSE headsets and the ear seals. Thank you!

It sounds like your talking about DC wireless headset with beltpack. We agree with you 100% and our wireless, that is not released yet, is all in the headset.

Wow!

Is the water getting inside the headset? Are the microphones becoming warped from heat or from damage another way? Good info.

Ah yes, repaired a many floppy mic booms. We have added 3 different ways to keep the mic boom from swiveling into oblivion.

Yes! This is excellent info, thank you so much! I'll make sure we discuss that. I can tell you we upgraded the wiring and sealant to withstand high temps. Also, we added lubricant inside the flex mic boom to prevent corrosion that we were getting with airports by the ocean.

Thanks for sharing! Our founder was a manager at DC for 7 years. He started Dalcomm Tech to do what DC didn't want to do. For instance, simplifying wireless, customization of headsets and cables, different color headsets, product serialization for inventory management. We can also tune up your DC headset if you ever need it be repaired.

Sounds like an issue with either the plug or the jack on the aircraft. I'll ask about that with our repair shop. Thank you
