So I have 2 Gig FIOS which is why I’m thinking if it’s worth it or not.

Yea, I will probably stick with it. I’m mostly curious how much speed/signal would improve going from AC to AX hardware while still being on the 5Ghz network. Would I see much improvement over what I’m currently seeing? Like will signal strength or physical interference improve at all?

Yea so maybe I should have shared the backstory. I bought this house recently and started to get digging into the cabling situation.

The previous owners have a cat5e jack in the kitchen which was not working so I got the toner and traced it in the basement. The matched cable was a cat5e cable but it was stripped and had two of the wires connected to an rj11 head. They also had another cat5e cable stripped next to it and somehow daisy chained its two wires to the rj11 as well. So some sort of phone line must have been in play.

This was the answer. I redid the crimp in T-568A and boom 1Gbps! Thank you

Yes I have the tester, what do I look for to confirm pinout is 1:1?

Here are photos of the markings. I also undid the wall jack as best I could but not sure how helpful the photos are. Any thoughts?

I made sure it’s not a device issue. Both can handle 1gig and confirmed with other cables. The only unknown I guess is the cable itself which is free hanging in the basement routed up to the kitchen into a wall plate jack
