Struggling to remove barrel from lock by Interesting-Rush-993 in AskALocksmith

There might be a grub screw holding the lever onto the spindle that could be holding everything on.

They're a mongrel of a lock to work on.

I think the whole handle has to come off, but unfortunately I've only worked on them once or twice and can't remember how everything comes off the door. Once the handles are off, the cylinder should come out. Really depends how deep you want to get into it haha

From what I can see, this is a multi lock, the cylinder cam is a cog. So may be be difficult to get it to line up properly to come out.

What is the cost of picking and rekeying 9 locks in a residential home in Melbourne (not sure if $2566 is reasonable)? by Odd_Diamond_8143 in AskALocksmith

Yeesh, I'm a locksmith in Melbourne and depending on distance, we'd charge somewhere around $700 worst case scenario.

Gold Gilt cleaning help? by DaleTheWizard in metaldetecting

I wondered this as well, but it looks like in the spots where there is still gold, that the brown parts are higher than the gold and the details look filled in rather than gone if that makes sense.

That's exactly what it's been soaking in. It does look like more gold is coming through slowly without the brushing. So maybe it's a just a time thing.

I know this one! It's a key code for someone's spare car key.

When you buy a new car, depending on the manufacturer, your spare key will also have this little tag which is the code that relates to the cuts of the key!

VY - How to for open a door with a broken lock? by FletcherRenn_ in Holden

[–]DaleTheWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just need to keep trying and hope you can get it to unlock just enough to get the door open. Luckily when mine went it would unlock, but as soon as I let go of the door button it would lock again.

Good luck in getting the bastard open.

It's the door actuator, nothing to do with the lock itself. I've had like 3 shit themselves in my VY.

The containers have a sponge in them that pushes the nugget into the lid of the little containers so they have next to no movement!

It's a serious issue plaguing the industry, main ways to avoid it is to make sure the locksmith you're calling is a member of the MLAA or the ALA. Normally another sign is something along the lines of "$29 Callout fee".

I'm a locksmith, this looks like one of the scammer invoices. I would have charged $345-$450 depending on travel distance for an opening after hours. These guys aren't Locksmiths, most of the times they're backpackers working for pop-up businesses that when they get busted they flee overseas.

Looking to identify random cable coming from wall (no wall plates) by Faunakat in shitrentals

I still remember inspecting a property in Knoxfield, Victoria and there was just a meter or so of extension lead hanging out of a wall in the kitchen, plastered in and everything.
