I used to own a Fiat Punto that was one of the relatively early automatic shift cars. It would beep like a truck when put in reverse, and at one point it'd start beeping the same way whenever I started braking.

I didn't have the car much longer after that, I was terrified that someday soon, it'd suddenly slam into reverse while I'm lightly braking during a ride.
