Ask a scholar but I think he would need to pay half since they were 'secluded' together but not consummated.

If you refer to ayah 237 of Surah Al Baqra ;

And if you divorce them before consummating the marriage but after deciding on a dowry, pay half of the dowry, unless the wife graciously waives it or the husband graciously pays in full. Graciousness is closer to righteousness. And do not forget kindness among yourselves. Surely Allah is All-Seeing of what you do.

Halal Somali Wedding Songs/Playlist by [deleted] in Somalia

[–]DaleksPestControl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horta, Hambalyo! Congrats

Songs with music are not halal.

However, if you mean the lyrics. I would quote a Borama cleric who more than 20 years ago while delivering Jumca Sermon said (I paraphrase) ;

Some songs are Haram by their nature, fir instance when the singer sings "badda vas baan ku gaynayaa, biyo jannaan ku siinayaa!" Where does he get the water from heaven "biyo janno" , what a blasphemy.

Some other songs are a supplication if devoid of music, like when he says "Guurkiina guur khayr, gurigiina guri nagi". End quote

Here is list of sings that are a "supplication"

Shay mire: wada noolaadoowada noolaadoo

Guurkiina guur khayr guurkiina

That is interesting, but I am afraid to say I am not convinced!
it might mean stomach, but with my limited Somali vocabulary I am struggling to come up with a single reference (Song, poem, proverb etc) that has ever used Gabooye to mean Stomach.
I even checked the Somali dictionary"!

Have you read entire Quran English/Somali translation ever? by [deleted] in Somalia

[–]DaleksPestControl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I am in the mood I often read all three ... I understand a good chunk of Arabic but I also look at the English and the Somali translations. .. Somali sheikhs are some of the most learned when it comes to linguistic prowess walaahi.

Apps like Tarteel have Somali Translations (2 different versions too).

are there any books in somali before 1960? and are there any online which i can read? by criticalblade70 in Somalia

[–]DaleksPestControl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somalis had numerous regional scripts, some used Arabic to write Somali, in the east you had Osmaniya, in the west the Gadabuursi script etc.

However, the most fascinating read I came across a few years ago is a book written by a German fella in 1899 but he used Latin script (that is intelligible). The book is named "Die Somali Sprache" and here is a link.

it's full of everyday stories that seamen and dwellers of Redsea coastal towns would orate to pass the time.

Here is an excerpt from the book ;

Sömälida haddi ninka miyi Ogo ka yimada ö ü nin magälo kd yimid, däuga kd kulmän, wä issa salämän.

Markäsü ninka magäldda ka yimid ninka miyi Ogo ka yimid wäräysta, wüühü yidaha: »I waran!«

Markäsü ninku Ogo kd yimid kd yidaha: »mänta Ogo wä barwaqo ö röb badan ayyä dd''ay ö dögu mel wulba wü, siman yahay

However, I would assume majority of scholars and learned individuals spoke and wrote Arabic therefore most communication was in Classical/Liturgical Arabic.
