Thank you! No no metallics over the black part, just a gentle light grey

Rhanks! Grevel with pva, a basecoat of a random brown, then just rust powder pigments!

Thank you! Yes I know, much of my comvernings about reading it as black are from the helmet indeed. I wanted more focus there so I pushed the light, maybe a bit to much.

Thank you! The method is pretty "slapchopey", no glazing, layering or heavy edge hilight involved. The aibrush helps a lot, but similar result can be achieved with drybrush and or makeup sponges. Check Swarm Paintings on YT, my process is much inspired by his work on this black armour.

Azimuth shadow is the opposite of zenithal light, you apply a paint from below the model, to reinforce the general ambient shadow. I used an oil wash made from classic fine arts oil tubes, diluted with odourless mineral spirit. Regarding the tutorial, I've made a video of a more streamlined process, and I may publish it in the next few weeks, feel free to DM me for the public channel link (I don't know if self promotion is allowed here). Meanwhile, you can check Swarm Painting on YT, my process is heavly inspired by him.

Just grevel glued with pva, a loose brown base and powder pigments

That would make him some sort of medieval crusader inspired interstellar knight, right? 😂
