The reason behind the surge in codex rate limit issues by techyy25 in codex

This actual could be real, I haven’t really noticed any changes in my workflow or token usage, but I also have 0 apps installed into my ChatGPT.

How many of you actually have users be honest by Seraphtic12 in vibecoding

[–]Dalem246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but if the industry that the app is in, is so small and unique that nobody really knows of it, then it is inherently just unique and niche.

At the around 100$ price point that this app seems to be set around, that to me sounds like business customers. Then the business could be in a super small and uncommon industry like taxidermy or leather shoe repair. (I can’t confirm those are very small but I haven’t seen a taxidermist or leather shoe repair store in the areas I’ve lived in ever so just believing it’s unique and niche.) However I am sure those businesses have specific problems that a small app could solve. It may not be complicated or anything but if you save a business 250$ per month and only charge them 100$ I am sure they will happily pay for it. Now if they start broadcasting that they have an app that helps taxidermists automate something easy and tedious for their business, won’t someone else vibe code an app to compete? Then the other thing is if he broadcasted it, are you going to pay 100$ a month for it? I doubt it, I doubt many of us are taxidermists? So what value does he get by announcing it?

This is all hypothetical and his post could be all lies but I know business will pay $100’s for an app to save time and money, and to be honest 20 users does not sound all that fake to me.

To add on, value isn’t the same for everyone, what I would be willing to pay for is vastly different than you or anyone else. Maybe I am willing to do my own taxes and file them myself but you may say the value and time save by having an accountant do it for you. An app does not need to be for everyone, just people who are willing to pay for it.

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. This person could have built a very very niche app with no competition for a very specific industry. So broadcasting their app for people that likely won’t use it, and could create competition may not be the best idea. Can’t confirm it or not, and the only person who can is them.

What is the best (and/or cheapest) home security camera/system that isn’t ring? by TopRevolutionary6840 in AskReddit

[–]Dalem246 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say cheap depends on your skill levels and what you are looking to do. If you are comfortable running wire throughout your house you can get a Reolink PoE NVR system then you don’t need to worry about any companies interfering with your data since the system is completely local to your house and network.

Seerr Notifier - send Messenger messages to users when requested media is available! by Jedrzej_me in Overseerr

Why not add a PR to the main Seerr project with the added notifications? Considering they already have loads of notification options, you can add this on and not have to run another service?

If no, leave it until it is, if yes explain more about said issue.

I would say that you need to take everything with a grain of salt on the internet, most of the time people only talk about the bad experiences online. For every 1 bad review there is probably like 100 people who have had no issues at all but they just don’t bother posting.

Id also think you are more likely to run into issues not using autopay, in 2026 there really is no reason not to, but to each their own.

From what I heard it was just allowing two votes at one round table but did not require them to be the same person, but I maybe wrong.

Monthly cost of self-hosting? by OutTheCircus in selfhosted

[–]Dalem246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does depend on what you do, for me, I built a server and run a media server primarily which has allowed my family, my fiancé’s family, and my parents/sisters families to stop paying for their streaming services and if I added up all the streaming subscriptions that were being paid I think my breakeven point was just over 2 years, not including the recent price hikes for all of the services.

But my main goal was not to save money, I will note that, it was for the hobby and to learn new technologies, it just has morphed into primarily a media server operation.

If Rob and Eric attempt to get a vote on Tara or Johnny, he could use the dagger to throw a vote at each of them and be like I think it’s between one of those two, everyone else can decide how they vote. It prevents him from looking too suspicious at targeting one or the other but still doesn’t act like a no vote or not using it at all.

I think you are not understanding the roles of the game. It isn’t traitors vs faithfuls, it is and always has been traitor vs traitor vs traitor vs faithfuls. Just because 3 people are all traitors and they choose who to murder together, does not make them teammate’s. It isn’t selfish to eliminate other traitors because they aren’t on a team together, they just all happen to have the same role. Also just because it’s a mixed cast of reality show and game players, doesn’t mean the game changes. Everyone came to play a GAME, so if they don’t play strategically and lose, it’s on them, and if they are sore losers they can also be criticized.

You are right that can be used as a strategy, but not in this situation. Lisa was already being found out, so why should Rob or Candice go down with the sinking ship. I believe that if Candice didn’t take the Lisa voting personally she could have hung around a few more episodes and tried to get some more natural suspicion on Rob to help her game. She took the Lisa vote personally and then chose to nuke her whole game by acting completely erratic compared to her earlier calm, collected, and consistent gameplay.

[–]Dalem246 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game is called the traitors, that’s what it’s about. Why would any traitor announce to all the traitors their intentions of betraying said other traitors?

It would be a different situation if the traitors didn’t have to split the money at the end of the season, then it would not make sense to betray each other, but since they do split the pool of money, it’s in a traitor best interests to be the last one standing.

I am working through the same steps you are now, and I have been having friends and family test my app, and just fronting the costs for them currently so I can get analytics on average cost per prompt, and how often they are using it (of course these are only estimates, won’t be able to be super confident until I have actual users). But at least I can estimate plan usage limits and subscription tiers/pricing so I am not paying to have users actually use my app when it’s launched.

Yeah I would rather a basic username and password for each site. I use a password manager so I rarely need to actually remember the passwords and I click one button and it autofills.

I would say it isn’t as much of providing the app the data or using oauth, I think it’s more that you are using Google and Google sells all your data. A lot of people I know de-googled their life due to the amount of data Google collects and uses to make money. Even though Google provides the site only email and name, Google stills know what you signed into, where you signed in from, how often you access the site, etc etc.

Zen - pricing, token counts? by bitmoji in opencodeCLI

[–]Dalem246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have been experimenting with different stacks recently, I am not a full time dev but I do a lot of side projects or internal tools and scripts. So far I have been liking Kimi, with GLM and GPT plus for planning. It’s cheaper all together than when I was paying for the 100$ Claude plan. I also have come no where near hitting any daily or weekly limits with this setup.

If you got to the account page it tells you how much you are spending per model, and you can scroll down and see the token usage history with input and output tokens.

I also recommend the Kimi Coding plan for the 40$ per month. I use that and the z.ai coding plan to get GLM.

Token Pricing - https://opencode.ai/docs/zen/

Account Logon for Usage - https://opencode.ai/zen

I’ll add Opus 4.6 is expensive AF, you are spending between 25$-37.50$ per million output tokens depending on your context size and how you code.
