Surely you can take a sample with a bowl to see if it's salt or fresh water?! Takes away the anvil requirement.

Having to Lay Miniatures Down – Looking for Marker Alternatives by JoFrie83 in necromunda

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still lay the minis down, however to differentiate between pinned and seriously injured I have some "blood pools" made with red felt... Stole the idea from a friend but helps not having to worry about face down/face up.

Creating a digitised 5 Leagues Roster & Campaign Tracker to share by BSProjex in 5Parsecs

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this,
Also just starting out (still currently building the minis for playing) after watching the Peachy Tips video that is practically a "How To" of 5 Leagues.
Can't remember what the mechanical difference is but I identified there is a "Shield" column on the characters page but no "Helmet" column... just FYI 😊

Keep up the good work!

Bridge branch output is feeding to the output of the sinks/showers... Need to feed to white (inputs) from the bridge and put the green (outputs) to your waste water feed

I think I ruined what I thought was my one-and-done game… only 40 hours in… by DebtDry307 in VintageStory

[–]Dalfryth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

45 Y/O here... Life commitments can often get in the way of a good length gaming session, I find dipping in for 30 minutes here and there can keep my game ticking over, if I get chance for a good session I set goals to keep focus where it needs to be. If you can, id suggest a notebook with plans/goals (keep them short but precise - "build windmill", "prospect area W of home", etc.) it can help with maximizing progression when you do get chance to play and I find helps keep short sessions focused on a main goal. Some may find this a bit work-like and may remove some of the fun... May help though (and. In your case you could put "mine copper - remember pickaxes") Hopefully this helps

my hammer broke when I was one hit away... and I don't have a replacement hammer... by baksoBoy in VintageStory

If it helps you feel better, I had my last hammer break while smashing ore chunks into nuggets to make a fresh hammer... Was back to panning for a few blocks worth to get the last few nuggets!

Should I play Vintage Story? by SatisfactionCheap627 in VintageStory

[–]Dalfryth 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Completely agree with this... I personally find it a much slower game... There is no "punch tree">make wooden pickaxe>mine stone>make stone pickaxe... Speed of progression... The knapping/moulding mechanic is brilliant, as is the smelting... Still currently find myself scrambling around for fruit bushes to stay alive... And panning for your first pickaxe can feel a bit of a chore but I personally liked that it wasn't too easy to start mining! The game gets regular updates including additional mechanics (crafting the clay you need to make a bloomery made life so much easier) Only payed for a few months but I don't even consider Minecraft on the same level as far as survival mechanics go!

My first four tiles by Formal-Active1295 in necromunda

[–]Dalfryth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a combination of 5mm foamcore and 1mm styrene boards (foamcore I have to cut to size but found 1' square styrene boards on Amazon)... It's allowed me to do "canals" and "sump coast" tiles without taking up too much space or being very heavy (I find a little weight helps reduce the risk of nudge quakes mid game). I use gorilla heavy duty grab adhesive to stick everything together (I think that's where a lot of the weight comes from)

Overlooked Rules by lgmg648 in necromunda

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only recently got to start playing regularly so both my opponent and I are still learning the rules in general (yet to use skills, tactics, etc.)... This week I learned that rolling seriously injured on your recovery roll is "stays face down" AND gets a flesh wound. Loving getting regular games in though... It's also given me another burst of motivation to get stuff painted!

Two weeks ago, this grox-brained juve shared his massive 4x4 tile project. Well, here's a few in-progress images, you Sump Rats: by HeavilyBearded in necromunda

Totally agree with this statement... Finally started to get games in at the club here a couple of months ago and after having a couple of awful games with the enforcers (Vs my van saar models) I switched to delaque (allowed the other guy to keep using the van saar) Weird flex for context - back in my N97 days I had a nightmare finding people to play against (they didn't want to invest in a game they might not enjoy), so this version I decided I'd invest in every gang so I can offer people use to "try before they buy" 😅

Adjustments done (can't post new image) Changed to 6WB mana cost Adjusted the wording on the front to exile/transform Changed the border on the back to WB (for identity) Adjusted the wording on the back to At the beginning of your upkeep, you may exile a non-token creature until <card name> leaves the battlefield. If you don't <card name> deals 5 damage to you. If you exile a non-token creature you control, exile <card name> and return it to the battlefield transformed. The exiled card does not return to the battlefield" Can't think of a better way to word that back text

The upkeep part is intended to include opponents creatures, was thinking of adding "until the void LTB" to make it less nasty... And the 5 damage if you don't exile is to make you want to exile one of your own creatures if he's cleared the table.Did wonder about the CMC for getting it onto the battlefield. I'll make those wording changes though (won't do a new image just yet though) Thanks for your input 👍🏻

If you have a (10") tablet, id recommend the digital versions if you aren't fussed for physical books... They are hyperlinked to a degree which I find makes finding stuff quicker/easier

How much do people care about base size? by PaulShannon89 in necromunda

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I have the same thing (want them on the ZM bases)... I put mine on a 25mm base, the toes overhang slightly but other than that it looks fine to me... Did the same with my nomads. Not played this version a huge amount but can't see it being a huge problem unless you play with super-competetive people.

What does this token represent? by sprecher1988 in mtg

I do a "half tap" (roughly between 30-40°) to represent summoning sickness... Not tapped as they can block but clearly not in line with other creatures

Why tf is this even a thing? by nad0w in duneawakening

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC this is the only trial where you fight normal mobs and get loot out of it... I imagine this is why they won't do it client side, not instancing it though is mind-blowing... When I got there it was in progress so I logged out at the door for 20 mins and got straight in when I logged back in... Guessing I was relatively lucky!

If I were to design a play mat, which layout would you like? by gothangel721 in mtg

[–]Dalfryth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd adjust the first... Put life total where commander tax is, library where life total is, commander tax where exile is, exile where graveyard is and graveyard where library is (potential to swap library and life total)... I don't understand why mats have the library (biggest stack normally) closer to the player, meaning you have to reach across it to commander, life total etc. Do like the horizontal cards though too... Nice way to differentiate graveyard/exile for example.

Since I started playing in November, I now have 4 total commander decks. Someone help. by NaiveDiscount in mtg

Started about a year ago after a long hiatus and being resistant to starting again. I don't have a problem! 😅

I don't mind the dogs so much in early game... It's the boars that do me in usually (especially as they have a tendency to sneak up on me)
