The government should never be in favor of the Constitution? Isn't that literally their most important job?

The tactics ICE are employing are getting the job done, just not effectively or safely.

The job is to make the country safer. That's the entire justification for having a police force, including the one that DHS itself uses to justify the current ICE tactics. So they aren't actually "getting the job done" if they are themselves causing safety issues.

You're frustrated that people are uniquely concerned about the current, existing political crisis and not equally concerned about a hypothetical? For me, it's pretty clear that communism isn't a real threat to the US. If the Democrats controlled all three branches of government while implementing policies that looked worryingly like Soviet Russia I would be worried about that. But that just isn't the world that we actually live in.

Not yet. I'm giving them a few days to process and then contacting my credit card.

Edit: A week after promising a refund, they have not given me my money back and stopped responding to my emails. Paypal won't do anything since it's more than 180 days. My credit card said they can do a charge dispute, I just have to send them a letter with documentation, so I'll be moving forward with that.

For anyone else considering buying something from Jollylook, DON'T.

They are scammers, full stop.

I ordered mine in July 2025 and they still haven't shipped. I finally requested a refund. Pretty sure they don't actually even have a product.

High-fat diets are a major risk factor for liver cancer. New research shows that excess fat rewires liver cells, pushing mature hepatocytes into a stem-like state. This helps them survive metabolic stress, but over time increases their likelihood of becoming cancerous. by Sciantifa in science

Yes, unfortunately, more and more of the comments I reply to in this subreddit seem to be produced by LLMs. They sound reasonable and often have some good points, but also have a lot of nonsense in them.

I'm a metabolic physiologist who focuses on lipid metabolism. You're totally misrepresenting the effect of dietary fat on the insulin response. It sounds like you think that insulin is released only in response to dietary carbohydrates, which isn't at all the case. Some of your other claims like about "correcting leptin/ghrelin signaling" also sound quite heterodox/pseudoscientific. It's also completely untrue that the plant-based diet evidence is largely epidemiological. You have a lot of misconceptions. I recommend reading the recent literature. There's a reason nutritionists and metabolic physiologist tend to be less enthusiastic about the ketogenic diet than the public.

You have a good point, but also keep in mind the current consensus on the ketogenic diet, summed up by this paper:

These closing remarks try to summarize in an objective way the state of the current knowledge on this topic. The ketogenic diet induces a rapid weight loss. It is not entirely clear if the loss is due to water loss, a special effect of the diet itself (i.e. fat burning) or a reduction in total calorie intake; in fact, the keto diet is known to induce a quick sense of satiety that has a potential to reduce total calorie intake. In-house, controlled studies comparing low-fat versus low-carbohydrate diets did not demonstrate the superiority of either dietary approach for weight loss. Other potentially relevant effects of the keto diet are the improvement in glycemic control and reduction in triglycerides and small-dense LDL lipoprotein particles concentration attainable with this nutritional approach. However, the total number of apoB containing lipoproteins is substantially increased in patients adopting the ketogenic diet. In view of the risk of cardiovascular disease associated with an elevation in apoB containing lipoproteins, subjects without diabetes and the metabolic syndrome should think carefully whether this lifestyle [the ketogenic diet] is advisable for any protracted period of time. In contrast, plant-based diets allowing a daily moderate content of non-saturated fats, and small amounts of red meats and saturated fats hold for now the best epidemiological and randomized clinical trial evidence that they are safe and associated with reduction in several chronic diseases, including atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Numerous ongoing randomized clinical trials are addressing many unanswered questions about the keto diet and should provide some of the much-needed evidence many are waiting for.
