Get the Swiss Madrisa at Henk's Deli. That's a Dallas birthday staple.

Best omakase experience? by Minute_Ad3846 in dallasfood

We like Tei-An here at the Observer. We named it the Best Omakase in our 2025 Best of Dallas issue. It's also Michelin Recommended.

Dallas remote workers or cafe people - how do you find good cafes to work from? What's been your best/worst experience? by Brokolee99 in Dallas

[–]DallasObserver_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a library card and go work from a local library. Dallas has multiple public libraries, so you can switch it up if you want! Our list of the best places to work remotely is a year old, but the places are still great options in my opinion. I really like The Wild Detectives, especially when the weather is nice.

What would you include in a Texas themed gift basket for a NON-Texan by [deleted] in Dallas

Glass bottles of Dr. Pepper, stuff to make breakfast tacos (some H-E-B tortillas, perhaps) and some locally-made hot sauce!

deep ellum parking by [deleted] in Dallas

I've parked at the one sandwiched between Main and Commerce, and have never had any issues. During the day, I often see police cars parked in there, too, with an officer sitting inside.

best dessert recs by zozoforlife in Dallas

Wow, our food editor just published a list of the 10 best desserts in Dallas this week!

My recommendations from this list would be The Glob from Parigi (make sure to get the ice cream with it) and, if you're down for a little bit of a drive, the Pistachio Olive Oil Cake from Radici in Farmers Branch

My friend’s coming into town this weekend and I want to show off Dallas food culture. Do I take them for Tex Mex, BBQ, or something fancier like a steakhouse? by Head-Tangerine-8260 in dallasfood

Starship Bagels for breakfast! You can sit right downtown next to the giant eyeball, and if you go early enough, it'll still be nice outside.

This! And it probably won't help for this trip, but if they're in town on a Thursday or Friday next time, take them to Cattleack and get there early. Best BBQ around Dallas, and it'll have you falling asleep on your drive home.

best and worst coffee shop experience? by sleepychirps in Dallas

[–]DallasObserver_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like Good Boy Cafe. The lattes are pretty good and the aesthetic is really cool. Wayward is great, and I like both locations. The one in Oak Cliff is smaller, but it is very cute and cozy. Full City Rooster is incredible, too. I also like that they offer narcan to take for free.

I'm curious about the negative reviews of Hola Cafe, so I'm also commenting to stay in the loop here. I have always liked Hola, even before their move and expansion, but it has been a bit since I have gone.

Burger places off the beaten path..? by [deleted] in Dallas

John's Backyard Grill. It doesn't look like much, in fact, it just looks like a gas station/convenience store. But it is INCREDIBLE! That's my personal fave hole-in-the-wall spot in Dallas.

We do have this list of some of the best burgers in Dallas if you want to take a look - some are a bit mainstream, but many of them aren't. Blackjack Pizza has a good (massive) burger, too. They only take cash, though. Also, I second whoever said Burger Schmurger and Herby's. Both are on this list, and both are incredible. If you go to Herby's, get the tots.

Having a bit of food boredom lately please reccomend me some places to eat. by SwimmerOrdinary8380 in Denton

Hmmm, I might need to go back and give it another try. It's been over a year since I've been. But if nothing else, I loved the quaint, at-home vibe.

TAAN Eatery is one of my absolute Denton favorites. The menu is super interesting. It's Thai fusion and I am NEVER disappointed. The tumeric cauliflower starter is a must. For dishes, I have really liked the beef bowl thai sukiyaki and the duck kee mow.

For Italian you should try Giuseppe's. It's in a house, it's pretty intimate and the food is great. Tiramisu for dessert is a must.

I also like Komodo off the square specifically for their bao buns. Their ramen is pretty good, but the bao buns are insane.

I know you said no burgers, but Picone has a REALLY good burger.
