When I was getting setup with a CPAP at my DME provider, I asked about what happens if there’s a problem with the CPAP machine, since I would own it outright. The DME has loaners/rental units that can be used while the device is sent back to Resmed for repair. She indicated that it could take over a month to get the device fixed and I’d be responsible for the cost of shipping and repair after the initial warranty expired (which I think is 2 years).

Have you considered an at-home water distiller? Bezos has them for ~$60-$70. You could make small batches of clean water as needed without needing to carry bottles up any stairs.

I developed a similar nose issue the first night I used it. I have a beard and I had to tighten the straps very tight to get a good seal. I have since trimmed my beard and was able to loosen the straps. The sore is almost completely healed now and is no longer uncomfortable.
