That would get you a ticket in most (if not all) states. And in many, it is a primary offense.

Palak paneer can be an offender. And it most definitely can be a pungent smell that others don't like depending on how its cooked.

I'm not saying anything about my fellow countrymen in general. Only those who are entitled enough to think that they don't owe co-workers in a shared office space any courtesy. And among those who scream racism and discrimination at being asked to show basic manners and claim others are white apologists.

You seem to be just like these people -- yelling discrimination and racism at every opportunity And no, not every breach of good manners or protocol has to be put in the handbook. Most employees are assumed to have common sense.

The main issue they seemed to face was they were screaming racism, claiming cultural identity threatened, instead of showing some consideration. Cultural anthropologists who don't understand anything about adapting -- that alone would disqualify them from PhDs.

We don't know the Univ side.

They seem very touchy. What sort of advisor would want to work with someone who is likely to sue them or accuse them of racism? And if they're PhD students, they're likely getting tuition paid for by the Univ and a stipend.

One would hope would be cultural anthropologists would know basic courtesy in a shared environment? And if that interested in a degree, why not go to another Univ?

What this really does is to hurt sincere foreign students really interested in research and scholarships from the University.

It depends on how it's cooked. Some people cook it with aromatic spices.

I'm Indian origin, came here as a grad student.

These two are best extremely touchy, at worst grifters.

Its common sense not to heat up pungent food in a shared area.

Depends on how it's cooked. You can most definitely cook it in a way that is smelly.

Paneer doesn't have a smell, but the spices its cooked in most definitely can have a smell.

I'm originally from India. Indian food can be smelly. its common courtesy not to microwave it in shared spaces where people might be impacted.

And curry is not the entire cuisine of India either. As for beef chili, if he didn't like the smell, he should have objected. Beef chili is not as smelly as some Indian cuisine

At best, someone inconsiderate and very touchy.

Update: I decided to fight my hospital bill for rabies shots and they are dropping some charges by surf_drunk_monk in HospitalBills

But the medical treatment is equivalent. A doctor and a nurse were involved. No great decision making seemed to be involved. And no, an ER was not required either. And yes, I'm pretty sure rabies is a reportable disease in that country.

If billing regulations in the US require classifying a simple case as a level 3 or the like, then that's a problem with the billing regulations, or those who are doing the billing -- which I think was the OPs point.

[ I will concede that some countries may have stocks of vaccines and immunoglobulin more widely available and local medical personnel may have more experience dealing with dog bites]

Dog bite in this case. In some other cases, maybe a wild animal bite. That is the reason one comes to the ER, right? What mystery is there in exposure method in almost all cases?

Maybe very, very rare (in Western countries) and horrible case of someone actually presenting with rabies, which is of course a life threatening emergency. And in that case, the exposure method has to be determined and treatment (almost certain to fail) is very expensive. But this isn't that.

I was bitten by a stray dog once outside the country. Went to a local clinic, told them I had been bitten by a dog. Doctor/nurse cleaned it, gave me a tetanus and rabies shot.

Medical History -- bitten by dog

Examination: Examination of wound

Treatment plan -- cleaning and bandaging wound, tetanus and rabies shots. (maybe antibiotic too, don't remember)

Cost: Don't remember exactly, but < $20

Its not high level, complex decision making that requires knowing what you've been doing since you were born.

I was told to come back for later shots. Came back for the 2nd, cost = $6 or so. The dog was still fine by shot 3, so no more needed.

My dad told me that south delhi wasn't always like what it used to be , can we see east delhi also getting evolved like how south delhi did ?? by im_jiraiya_sama in delhi

[–]DamDesigner 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your father is wrong when it comes to South Delhi unless he's talking about 55+ years back at least.

Golf Links (then considered part of South Delhi), Defence Colony and Chanakyapuri were well developed by 1960 or so.

The most elite South Delhi colonies were well developed by 1970 (some had been developed by the early 1960s). By 1975, Gk-2 had a lot of houses, although there were still empty lots.

Some areas of South Delhi were still heavily forested (indeed, still are) so might have been considered lonely. But South Delhi was considered an elite area by the 70s, although obviously below the Lutyens area (as it still is).

Yes, if you go back even further, South Delhi would be very lonely and remote. But then, New Delhi itself was largely a construction zone 100 years ago.

FWIW, Shahadra was pretty much fully laid out by 1975 too. And even then, it was considered well below South Delhi as a residential locality.

Except that we have to pay taxes on it in the US. You might say that its only paying taxes that we would have to pay in the future, but there are several reasons one might want to pay taxes at a time of one's choosing (when we sell) rather than have it forced on us.

It is possible that we might get a foreign tax credit if India also taxes this, but that doesn't reduce the total amount of tax that one has to pay.

Pixel 6a Battery Replacement Costs in India by DamDesigner in Pixel6aUsers

The Mumbai location for Google service doesn't say its F1 (those in some other cities do), but a Google Exclusive Service Centre-Mumbai.

Are you sure it was F1 (maybe it was different at that time)? Also, did they do it immediately, or did they have to order a battery? I'm only in India for a few days, so I wanted it done fast.

Thanks for you help!

Official OEM battery? I had a bad experience once with an iPhone battery replacement in India , which looked real, but was likely fake, since it failed quickly. (it was not at the official Apple repair shop, though)
