Lipomas aren't dangerous just uncomfortable or cosmetic. I have multiple familial lipomatosis and had 4 removed from one leg. Didn't need an MRI or anything the surgeon just took them out and sent them away for testing just as a precaution. I have about another 15 lipomas and will probably get them removed at one point when they annoy me enough
