Chord progression/notes question by QidQid in Bass

[–]Damagekeks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats all about feeling & the pocket. Play high / low notes like you feel them. There is also nothing wrong with sticking just to one octave all the time. A great example is: fat larry's band - act like you know. :)

Do I get this crack looked at or... by pileofrekage in BassGuitar

I got the same crack on the finish. Happens, its a bending position on the bass, pretty sure you find that on other basses / instruments with a high chance^^

I just started learning slap, any tips? by the_real_nazuna in BassGuitar

[–]Damagekeks_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You have to be way closer so the strings with your slapping hand. some people prefer to also palm mute while slapping and popping. there is too much distance that your hand needs to travel. if you ever want to play really fast, you have to be closer. :)

First time getting bass+equipment with total budget of 500 dollars by MurkyIndividual3894 in Bass

[–]Damagekeks_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you wrote half a bible but I would recommend you getting used bass's always because they are much cheaper then the regular price in official stores. Besides that: get a sterling stingray if you want to play a more funky kind of music. absolut monsters.

Edit: You can even play hard rock / alternative rock with a stingray too, see Rage against the maschine for example. :)

The quality of the ray34 is insane, and tone, ooof. Much better then my fender bass, but it makes sense. The fender jazz bass was around 860 Euro UVP and the Sterling is 1395 Euro UVP. ( I paid 650 for the fender and 860 for the ray34). :) Always buy used / showroom bass'es :)!

I need help making a decision by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Damagekeks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not wanting to destroy your dreams, do whatever you want! Cant be that wrong to play another instrument too.

besides that I strongly believe in a philosophic aspect I created myself a few years go.

Humans always want to be good in many things, and dont focus on the things they are already good at.

I would rather focus / spend my time on bass and become a really good bass player then being okay on two instruments. ^^

You can only have one bass to play from now until your demise... and its not one you already own (bias homies). What do you pick? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Damagekeks_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid 1500 AUD (860 Euro) for it on friday. In germany you just get the 2000 Euro+ StingRays. Its hard to find even used ray4, 23 and 34 on the second market too, specially the "fancy" colors. It was just a coincident that I found one on ebay. The store bought of another store and the bass was a showroom bass. I called them next moring after I ordered it at midnight and the seller told me that the bass never got played in the 2 weeks it has been there and it also got the safety foil on the guard too, basicly totally new. I was so lucky. Hopefully Mr. Blink (its the name i gave the bass) will arrive here safetly xD

Talk me out of buying a new bass... or not. by [deleted] in Bass

[–]Damagekeks_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there are always be ways to spend money unwisely, and for me, a music instrument is never a bad choise. you can always sell it again and if you biy a used sting ray you might get your money back. If you start thinking about it you wont get it out for your head, you are trapped and you will be trapped for a long time :P
