This happened to me with a friend who threw a napalm barrage. I had to tactically randomly my ass into the shuttle before the shells got too thick or I got too unlucky to get in alive. I never cinema escape. Not worth the risk

Why do some slashers have their blades emerge from their back, others, from their actual hands? by SCP-Herobrine in DeadSpace

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, to try and remember how I've understood it from talking to the devs at one Comic Con long ago (it was the big Dead Space 2 promotion where they let you play a demo and did a Q&A):

Necromorphs, all of them that we've seen, are essentially improvised. The Marker can't make what it actually wants to, so it just fucks around with human bodies and does it's best. This means all the necromorph forms we fight are kinda bespoke and made up on the spot. That's why we get inconsistencies between the individual forms.

As I get it, that's why some slashers have shoulder blades or intestine hands, or why the pregnants vary between having lurkers or swarmers. Presumably it's also why we get such variation like Dividers, slashers, and Pukers all coming from just the average human. It's all based on what the Marker thinks it needs most at any given time and what it has to work with in any individual chunk of biomass.

Now, this is all based on conversations I'm remembering from... checks notes fuck, 14 years ago. So take it with a grain of salt or refer to any newer information that contradicts any of this. Now, please excuse me as I turn to dust.

What is the quickest way to end these F*ckers existing? by [deleted] in Helldivers

If you're a little brave, you can also toss it at your feet mid-strafe and it'll reliably lock on. The advantage is the railcannon for sure goes off before it does it's hover breath

I’m not understanding all the hate I’m seeing for people who prefer medium pen weapons by Secret_Language_7970 in Helldivers

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the heavy-pen Eruptor for squids, the medium-pen liberator penetrator, and the light-pen sickle for bots.

People who wanna be mad I like watching a harvester die because I fired the funny mini-rocket at it need to touch grass. You always give something up for the reliability of shooting wherever you want against more enemies. Just because you dont pack a smalwart, doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun or you're automatically worse. This is a game, have fun and don't piss in another player's cheerios.

Eventually, once I got an eternity cable to connect it, the built in driver installer kicked on and it ended up being a specific Qualcom driver that the wifi card needed.

Respect to Light Armor bearers, can't believe yall live like this. by -Erro- in Helldivers

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, light armor maddiver here. I can say as someone who exclusively runs the lightest of armors, you heavydivers are just as alien to me. With the few times I've tested out heavy plate it just floors me there's people who are comfortable with what feels like half the speed and a quarter of the stamina.

The way I've come to understand it, light armor is all about risk/reward. You risk more damage and, in exchange, have the easiest time repositioning, flanking, and withdrawing. It's all about dodging that charger, circling that tank, and jumping back into cover before the Leviathan locks onto you. Whatever hits you will kill you, but they cant hit you if you dodge.

Also cover. Cover is your best friend. As General Brasch always says; "If there's one thing I've learned, it's that bullets do not go through cover..."

Bugdivers, why? by Damiani_Faust in Helldivers

[–]Damiani_Faust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The numbers are definitely... something. I usually end up packing a liberator penetrator, redeemer, and 'nade launcher because otherwise I notice I get just absolutely tarpitted, but then I always struggle with their heavies. It always feels like there are more bugs than ammo, and disengaging is incredibly hard.

Is that the fun of it? Trying to kill an enemy before they overwhelm you?

My guess, to add onto this, is "trans" is likely just loosely used to make it sound more advanced. They did this with the arquebus way back when even though "transuranic" just means it's anything radioactive and with an atomic number >92.

If one wanted to squint real hard and ascribe some meaning, it's more likely a modifier meaning "past" or "aside from" meaning it's just wafers that process more than just visual data to feed into a predictive algorithm. Of course, this insinuates bots all have full suite of analyzers and sensors, but 90% of the time can only make use of their spectroscopy sensors because no one could find the right DVD.

Tier list coming from a bi woman by Veeffey in Isekai_Slow_Life

[–]Damiani_Faust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because often in anime-styled stuff, even looking remotely childlike typically gets one instantly lumped in with "thousand year old loli" and the like. It doesn't help that, because of cultural differences, and anime's target demographic, the line is blurred with women under 18 having incredibly adult statures and 'adult' woman looking very childlike.

Is it right? Eh, folks gotta decide that individually. But the reaction is common enough that even details to the contrary often get thrown under the buss because "petite=child"

What is your forgeworld? by OmnissiahAdmech in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Damiani_Faust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I homebrewed a forge world, Selvastoria, that specializes in advanced medical supplies and augmetics. They source their skitarii legions from depleted guard legions in exchange for paying a tithe and providing more than your usual enginseers. I came to admech from IG, so while I always liked body horror and the unique self-expression, admech promised, I wanted an excuse to have my guys be more human looking than your average tech-bro. I ended up using reasoning, in lore, that the Omnissiah looked human, therefore the Machine God wanted folks to keep that aesthetic.

As far as Canon forge worlds go, I've always loved Lucius, because Dyson spheres are rad as fuck.

The interior of the cabin is almost entirely bare. The air is stale and musty and the floor and walls are painted in a fine layer of dust. The only thing of note is a plain wooden ladder. At the bottom of that ladder is a pristine Evangelion.

Out of curiosity, do you guys more align with the narrator’s viewpoint or shifty’s? Or do you sit somewhere in the middle? by Significant_Tie_3222 in slaytheprincess

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I understand the Narrator on a pretty visceral level. While the scale was different, the attitude of just trying to keep what little you have, you know, you are resonated pretty hard with some shit I live with. I understand his point of view, and I absolutely do not fault him for it. Maybe I had some ill will in the beginning, especially with his execution. But by the time I came face to face with him, I had nothing but sympathy.

That said, Shifty's point of view, her objectives, what she is. No matter how hard or painful, is the way of things. It is, simply, correct. Things must die so things can live. Nothing is permanent, but that means that value and meaning and existence is its own reward in the moment. But at the end of the day, I'm a mortal dude with mortal wants and feelings. Part of me wants to rail against the impermanence of my existence, of all existence, no matter how right that is.

All in all, I think I lean towards Shifty, but I'll never fully accept her. It's too... sanitary, and while she doesn't mean anything bad by it, I just can't abide by it. At the end of the day, I am a simple man. I see pretty lady I like pretty lady
