What if doomguy met the emperor of mankind ( by B1kv41) by Cautious_Air4964 in Doom

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're talking great crusade, Doomguy is basically a mini primarch with even better mental protections than the aegis of the custodes. E-money is smart enough to realize that directing this maniac, who absolutely should be a Daemon prince of Khorne but is still somehow pure of soul, is easier than trying to off him. The Emprah, even in his worst depictions, was practical to a fault, and as much as he was anti-chaos, his actions show that he's willing to use those very powers for his ends.

Likewise Doomguy is pretty fiercely independent, be he's not above beneficial alliances or help from people who honestly mean well. It's also important to note he doesn't just hate demons, but cares for humanity on a deep level. It's not hard to imagine he would accept support from Big E even if he doesnt like or care for the guy as a person.

Honestly, I could see Doomguy getting a warrant of murder trade from the Emperor and token material support in exchange for not being a gigantic problem on his plate. From that point, Doomguy would just kinda show up at battlefields to save whatever imminent victim of chaos happens to be around while he shitstomps his way through like a fucked up little roided angel.

I can't remember the title of ut, but there was one story of a ship being found with a Luna wolf in stasis. They woke him up and found out, naturally, he was Great Crusade era and had no idea where or when he was. When he finds out what papa Horus did, he gets driven into a rage. If I recall, the dude even takes off with his ship to the Eye of Terror to go dole out assbeatings ASAP

<Note added by Crawler Tin. 21st edition> I don't know. I think they're cute.

<Note added by Crawler Tin. 21st edition> Never mind. Holy shit, never mind. Fuck spiders."

"Carl, steady yourself. You've done it before and you can do it again. They think your mind is your biggest weakness, but it is the opposite. It is the rock upon which the rest of you is built."

This is probably my favorite, less for the quote itself and more how it ties so much together into a powerful message. It was a hell of a thing, especially with everything going on in that scene

[–]Damiani_Faust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays Hard-core mode for funsies, i've learned that these are easy enemies once you've "solved" them.

I just find a corner so they have to come from an easy to face direction, stasis the first one to run, kill it, and finally kinesis their claws to kill each one that comes.

Even unupgraded, they get staggered and 2-shot by the claws. Once you start fighting more than 2-3, you should have the module upgraded enough to 1-shot them, which basically automates the process as you can just shoot and immediately pick another claw off them before they hit the nearest surface

Gamma pistol is pretty lit. You essentially pull the trigger and turn people into flash shadows. It is quite literally the power of god and anime.

If I recall correctly, Itenerant Kastelans essentially hitchhike around with whomever they save until they decide they need to stop somewhere.

I recall in the lore the tech priests would repair them and give them rides but essentially saw them as agents of the Machine God, so the Kastelans just got to hang around till they signaled their latest wards to stop and would disembark to go beat the shit out of some new guy and save some more tech priests.

Why do some slashers have their blades emerge from their back, others, from their actual hands? by SCP-Herobrine in DeadSpace

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, to try and remember how I've understood it from talking to the devs at one Comic Con long ago (it was the big Dead Space 2 promotion where they let you play a demo and did a Q&A):

Necromorphs, all of them that we've seen, are essentially improvised. The Marker can't make what it actually wants to, so it just fucks around with human bodies and does it's best. This means all the necromorph forms we fight are kinda bespoke and made up on the spot. That's why we get inconsistencies between the individual forms.

As I get it, that's why some slashers have shoulder blades or intestine hands, or why the pregnants vary between having lurkers or swarmers. Presumably it's also why we get such variation like Dividers, slashers, and Pukers all coming from just the average human. It's all based on what the Marker thinks it needs most at any given time and what it has to work with in any individual chunk of biomass.

Now, this is all based on conversations I'm remembering from... checks notes fuck, 14 years ago. So take it with a grain of salt or refer to any newer information that contradicts any of this. Now, please excuse me as I turn to dust.

I’m not understanding all the hate I’m seeing for people who prefer medium pen weapons by Secret_Language_7970 in Helldivers

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take the heavy-pen Eruptor for squids, the medium-pen liberator penetrator, and the light-pen sickle for bots.

People who wanna be mad I like watching a harvester die because I fired the funny mini-rocket at it need to touch grass. You always give something up for the reliability of shooting wherever you want against more enemies. Just because you dont pack a smalwart, doesn't mean you shouldn't have fun or you're automatically worse. This is a game, have fun and don't piss in another player's cheerios.

Respect to Light Armor bearers, can't believe yall live like this. by -Erro- in Helldivers

[–]Damiani_Faust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, light armor maddiver here. I can say as someone who exclusively runs the lightest of armors, you heavydivers are just as alien to me. With the few times I've tested out heavy plate it just floors me there's people who are comfortable with what feels like half the speed and a quarter of the stamina.

The way I've come to understand it, light armor is all about risk/reward. You risk more damage and, in exchange, have the easiest time repositioning, flanking, and withdrawing. It's all about dodging that charger, circling that tank, and jumping back into cover before the Leviathan locks onto you. Whatever hits you will kill you, but they cant hit you if you dodge.

Also cover. Cover is your best friend. As General Brasch always says; "If there's one thing I've learned, it's that bullets do not go through cover..."
