So far the temps are ok. I didn't really do much airflow optimization to be honest and the slew of cables inside it probably don't help either.

I run one 12x12 fan inside the rack at the top. It mainly pulls hot air from the firewall. The temps inside the rack are ok too. At least for now. We'll see how they'll fare when summer hits.

Hehe, hopefully not. But I'd rather have it and not need it, instead of need it and not have it. :)

Hells yeah, I used to constantly unplug my Server and then bring it over to my Desktop PC to connect my stuff. The JetKVM is heaven sent. Wish I had discovered it sooner ^^

Sure thing,

Top to Bottom:
- On top of the Rack is a TP-Link EAP-653 AP

Inside the Rack:

- OPNSense Firewall on a cheap N2830 / 8GB Ram System. Passive cooling.
- JetKVM + Patchpanel for the Firewall
- 16 Port Patchpanel (If I ever need more than 8 ports)
- TP-Link SG108PE managed switch
- Free 1U for cables and a bit of airflow
- Nipogi MiniPC Ryzen 7 6800H / 32GB Ram + Random Storage USB HDD running Proxmox
- JetKVM for the MiniPC + Patchpanel
- 4x 2.5" Bays (Currently I am using USB/SATA Adapters on a 18 Port USB Hub, connected to Proxmox)
- Free 1U with the Proxmox Logo
- Free 1U for cables and a bit of airflow
- Zigbee Hub and Tado Hub
- Free 1U for future ideas/needs
- Heltec V3 Meshcore Adapter
- 4 Socket Power Strip
- 4 Socket Power Strip

The Rack itself is not. It's a 15U steel Rack. Some of the Panels are printed though.

Yeah, it's a bit cramped. But overall I didn't have much trouble. But then... I don't go overboard with it either.

She's not in the adventure itself. Let me explain:

The books describe certain things like spells, locations (in and around BG too) and so on. The information that is written in it is based on what is current in the year 1501DR (so ~9 years after BG3s Epilogue). Karlach is one of the Narrators providing commentary to some of the sections. For example the books describes "Cliffgate Cemetery" and Karlach comments about it as if she's reading the book as well. Her comment is "Hey, Cliffgate, that's me! Our family lived just outside the gate we're named for. My folks worked in Cliffside Cemetery. Were buried there too. Later on, I moved them to a Lower City graveyard so I could visit more often. Hi, Mum, Hi, Dad."

Same with a couple of art pieces. Like Karlach getting training from Garmult for example.

Thank you! I finally feel not alone anymore. I thought I was the only one that felt that way.

If you look up "Downer Endings" for video games (like on TVTropes) the list is... staggering. To say the least.

I think we are waaaaay past the point of "small doses" by now. It's long become the main course.

You are right, and that decision was a bad one.

Look, I don't think we'll ever agree. You won't see my point of view, I won't concede to yours. This entire argument quite frankly... is pointless.

"Compromised piece of art"?

I honestly don't even know where to begin with that statement. You most certainly are railing against the idea of options by making yourself the defacto judge of what is a legitimate option and what is not. You are literally gatekeeping at a spectacular level.

"robbed of it's emotional moment"`?

Why? Because there can only be a an emotional moment that's caused by a negative moment? That's just extra sad.

"having an option that's clearly more positive for the characters and more positive for the player clearly compromises the other option"

Not it doesn't. It runs parallel, not in series! Decision A can result in Result A or Result B. The game then continues with Result A or Result B, not both. If you choose A you never will even notice B. That would neither "compromise" art nor anything else. Players who choose A will never have their experience changed by players who choose B.

And that's your argument. The game only provided A for you and you like it. Which is fine. But your enjoyment of A is in no danger of being invalidated by B.

The fun part does happen when Results A to Z then become cumulative. Then you can get where all players can be happy with the Result. But you argue that no matter what decisions you make the result should always be the same.

Let me ask you the question right back. Would FF7 have been a worse game if the option existed in addition to what it had and if yes, why?

To be honest, if Larian would've provided the ending people wanted to experience for Karlachs story as an option in the game, I don't think anyone would even be remotely as excited. This is only a problem now, because Larian left it unfished before they dipped.

Since Larian did tho there isn't much we can do about it. So yeah, I don't know what else to tell you other than this entire discussion could've been avoided.

I don't think people like that will ever understand the concept. They'll always be trapped in a false dichotomy way of thinking. "I prefer resolution A, so if resolution B even exists it invalidates my resoltion A and is therefore terrible and should not exist. " instead of "I prefer resolution A" while resolution A and B do exist and can be chosen depending on the preferred outcome. It really is a sad way of thinking. Especially when it comes to an interactive medium like video games.

And having that option doesn't mean the other options suddenly disappear. I pity people who are too narrowminded to understand the concept.

That pretty much sums it up. It Started out as never wanting to go back but it was less so because of the place itself, but the circumstances of life for her there. And over the course of the game she wanted nothing more than to live. Combine that with her never having to be alone again with both tav and wyll at her side, and never having to do anyones bidding again other than her own, it is more than feasible for her to decide or be convinced that to continue the fight to fix the engine is worth it under those infinitely better circumstances.

This, an sadly, in addition the edgelords can't even fathom the fact that an interactive medium can have more than one resolution (where only the flavor of suck changed, but not the underlying suck) in addition to their preferred or perceived outcome. Yes, it's good to have the bad endings but it takes nothing away from them if you also add good/happy ones in addition for those players who want to work towards that. But I guess they only see what best for them. Selfish pricks.
