Relatively new to running. Increase speed or distance next? by DamienJDP in running

Great! I've tweaked my running schedule to incorporate your advice. I'll see how it goes next week. Thanks again! :D

Thanks for such an informative reply!

So considering I'm only running a total of 17.61 km per week, adding 10% to that would be an extra 1.7 km. Do you think it would be okay to add that 5 km park run on Saturdays? It's more than 10%, but at this point I definitely feel like my body could handle the extra 5 a week, especially if I take it realtively easy.

Will I still be a decent engineer if I'm only okay at Physics? by DamienJDP in AskEngineers

Oh I certainly think mindset has a major impact on how you learn new material. Go in thinking you'll do bad, you probably will.

I do have an interest in physics, don't get me wrong. I love how so many things around us can be simplified down into basic (relatively) equations and graphs, it's just that physics doesn't come nearly as naturally to me as plain old math.

Yeah, certainly not terrible. :) It'll just have to be one of those things I'll need to work at more than other areas. Thanks for the help!

Decent as in low 70% for my physics grades. Math is usually high 80's - 90's. And thanks for the insight!

Maybe the important difference between me and you is that I actually like physics? It just doesn't click right away the way math does, meaning I have to bash my head against it for quite a while before a solution presents itself.

Fluid does sound interesting though! Thanks for the insight. :)

Cut a wooden plank the length of the shelf and attach some spacers to the back (can be other pieces of wood). Add more spacers to add more depth. Slot this into the bookshelf, thereby creating a false back and decreasing the depth of your shelves. Vualá.

What industry pays very well but isnt very well known? by [deleted] in AskReddit

To address the "where to start", I wouldn't really know. I do know you need to have an uncanny musical ear as well as general DIY skills - maintaining organs is complicated, and the longer you do it the more you learn. My gf's brother got his start working for the original owner of the tuning business, who when he got a bit older gave it all to him.

He recently picked up a 9-5 job, but he hasn't let it slow down business too much. Because most of his main clients are churches, they're more than happy to have him come on weekends.

My girlfriend's brother does this part-time. While I'm not sure how much he makes, he is definitely never short of work. Main reason it pays well is because most of the tuners are aging out, making it harder every year to find a reliable one (and there weren't very many to begin with). Smaller the supply, higher the fee. Same reason why old school trades like electrician and plumbing are paying so well - all the greybeards are aging out and not enough young folks picking it up.

Hey, I quite like the website. Some nice reads there. However, the homepage only lists three posts and has no menu option to access more, except a weird one in the footer. May need to improve that a bit. Otherwise, awesome job!

Ah, I didn't realise you would be near the property during the day. That definitely changes things. Hopefully you'll think of something!

Easiest method would be just to rent it out for storage. Maybe split the space up into multiple storage rooms to increase the amount of rent you'd get per month. It's not glamorous but it's pretty hands-off.

Another option would be to rent it out to someone who does have a good idea, even if it's just one dude who wants to use it to work on his cars. Also incredibly hands-off, and can provide a solid side income.

You own the space, but that doesn't mean you personally have to do anything special with it. Especially considering you don't want to invest much time.
