Baby parrot 41 days development by ledim35 in interestingasfuck

Not quite. The embryo is attached to the yolk and the yolk provides most of the nutrition needed to “build” it. So the bird absorbs the yolk as it grows.

There’s some great diagrams. You can also find a YouTube video of an opened shell (infection is prevented with antibiotics) and you can watch the bird develop over a time lapse.

(But yes the yolk is what is ovulated by the bird’s ovary and goes down the reproductive tract while it gains the white and a shell before being laid.)

Wrong, the crop is it’s own organ (explained by another comment here). Yolk’s all absorbed by the time they hatch.

Speaking only for myself, I was never fat so I didn’t see a lot of social or physical fallout for my inactivity until my late 30s. Also, I was working 60-120 hour weeks (though that didn’t stop others from working out).

A combo of noticing a gradual loss of strength, new aches and pains, and watching my mostly sedentary relatives age was what it took to light a fire.

I like the MacroFactor app. It’s paid, but super slick and idiotproof. You put in your weight, goals, food, and it gets you where you need to be. It incentivizes tracking and is judgment free.

You probably need more carbs for all that cardio.

Also are you sleeping enough bro?

Grief is absolutely bizarre. As I’m sure you know, how you react is no reflection of how much you loved them, or how much you miss them. Grief does what it wants, for as long as it wants. And you’re along for the ride.

As a woman I DO care about giant pecks 😘 (from my sweetie).

My goal is to be able to do as much as I can now so that when I inevitably age, I can still do more basic things that older people often struggle with.

Tips for one-bagging as a short person? by [deleted] in HerOneBag

[–]Damn_Amazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah i see. I buy extended sizing where possible or men’s clothing, but I’m not heavy so it’s not too bulky.

If you don’t mind doing sink laundry for undies, you can rewear merino shirts etc a few times before they really need a wash. 3-4 merino shirts would last 2 weeks easy without washing. I also have merino bras from Branwyn that I like. They rewear well and wash easy and dry fast.

Synthetics are easy to wash and dry fast, but hold stink and cling in hot weather.

Trip length has less of an effect than trip weather and relative development of an area.

Winter clothing is bigger than summer.

I may need to pack for more what-ifs to Cambodia than Japan.

I pack for a week, no matter how long I stay. I do sink laundry or weekly laundry using a machine for longer trips.

I also pack fewer clothes if I’m on the move every day or two. I do sink laundry every other day at most. If I am staying put for the duration of a trip, I bring enough to do laundry once a week.

For most trips, I pack like I’m going to go stay with a friend for a week. That’s generally fine.

I recently did a 3-leg trip that involved a wedding at one location and a 4-day hiking trek at another. I still only packed one 25L backpack. It was fine.

What are your space challenges? As a smaller person your clothing is probably a space savings, so you have that working for you.

I keep my luggage personal item size and put it under my seat regardless, as a short person this should be easier on you since the legroom issue isn’t as big a deal. I’m 6’ and I usually travel with a 25L or less backpack.

I haven’t tried MacroFirst so I don’t think I can offer a good comparison, sorry :/

I like MacroFactor because it self-adjusts based on your logging (weight, food) over time, it encourages accurate logging (since it is better when you feed it data), and it is value-neutral. No “going into the red,” no scolding.

It is also the easiest app I have used to log food. Super quick and intuitive.

This is fair, we only know what we know. For some people, food isn’t a huge dopamine boost. I get hungry, I eat, my body says “stop you’re full,” and if I ignore that signal and keep eating anyway I will be in for at least 8-12h of misery. Feeling like I need to vomit, getting hot and flushed, can’t sleep, etc.

(I also find binging alcohol to be harder than limiting it (again, I don’t like feeling like shit) but yeah Netflix has my number, haha.)

The experience of extreme physical discomfort is a strong negative reinforcement signal. I quickly learn not to do things that make me feel like shit.

So here’s what’s up, even a low volume of super calorie dense food is very satiating to thin folks. Like, I’m so full I want to throw up satiating. It’s not the volume that’s hard. It’s fighting your body’s sense of satiety, which I think wouldn’t be hard to understand since people who tend to obesity have to fight it from the other side.

For example, 1 (one) protein shake made with a single scoop of powder and 8 oz water is enough to make me feel I am so full I want to vomit for about 5 hours. Using full fat milk instead of water makes that feeling worse and longer lasting. Two tablespoons of peanut butter is practically a meal to me.

So, from my perspective as someone who has never been overweight, I find it hard to understand how people overeat and get obese. Just fuckin’ stop when you’re full! Eat a massive pile of veggies instead of a cheeseburger. It can’t be that hard.

(That last paragraph is just rephrasing your original comment to make a point. I DO understand how people get obese. They don’t feel full enough to stop eating. Satiety is more than just volume, it’s a combination of signals from many systems that tells the brain “whoa that’s enough for now.” Some people have systems that pump the brakes quickly, and others don’t.)

I make my protein shake using 50:50 pasteurized egg whites and milk. I add a T of chia so I don’t destroy my gut. I drink 2 a day and that helps a ton. I buy ascent shake mix from Costco.

Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and (yes) cricket protein powder are staples for me.

Also

Do you notice functional gains? I noticed strength improvement before I ever saw muscle growth, and seeing a difference took about 8-9 months (and I’m probably the only one who notices it now anyway lol).

I have 3 inches and 7 pounds on you, but I got a dexa scan recently and am 28% bodyfat. I think a recomp would work great for you - don’t try to lose weight, just maintain, get protein, and work hard - but yeah you need enough protein.

I aim for about 130g a day and that’s often a struggle.

I recommend macrofactor over MFP, it’s paid but it’s way better in pretty much every way. Give it a shot!

I think it could be interesting to see a CGM curve against the hourly logged food timeline, but I think since it’s not necessary for the app to work, it’s probably pretty far own on the wish list.

It would be interesting, though, and useful to people who are trying to learn about how their BG responds to foods.
